It's $299 at Bath and Beyond. The $129 is for another set of knives. However, it does not matter since it's sold out now anyways.

I own this set and I have to say it's the best set of knives I have ever owned. There are two ways knifes can be made, forging and stamped.
Stamped knifes are very common work pretty well and are the cheaper of the two methods. The knife is stamped out of a piece of steel, holes cut and the handles attached to the knife. The metal used for stamped knifes is generally cheaper and won't hold it's edge as good as a forged knife.
A forged knife is made by pressing the steel while still hot. The handle is then attached to the blade by various ways. The blade that is produced by forging is of a higher quality and will hold it's edge longer. It's very easy to say that a forged set of kitchen knifes will last a lifetime and if cared for more than a life time.
You can tell the difference by looking at where the blade stops. If the blade is flat and continues directly into the handle is stamped. If there is a backstop, for lack of a better term, then it's forged.
All that being said this forged knife set is a great deal at 20% off. I got the same set last year for Christmas and it was $200.

I don't think it is unusual for a set of high quality knives to have empty spaces in the block (though the steak knife portion is normally included). They leave spaces for other knives that are slightly less common or that are in your personal collection so they can be stored as well.

Why would someone spend so much money on a 7 piece set? What really stands out to me is that the wood block isn't even complete. Usually when you buy block sets, all of the slots are filled with knives and other things. Are you supposed to add your own to this? Seems kind of weak to me, especially for the price!
