Apple is trying to scam us while other phone use micro usb. Now they put in chip to increase the price and block third party cable?
If these can charge iphone 5, I think that is good. We dont need sync all the time but we need charge all the time

This is definitely a scam. Apple has put new chips into the lightning cables so Chinese manufacturers cannot make cheap knockoffs that will work. The last I heard, Apple was not selling their products at a discount to Saveology.

I don't care if it's $20 each - I'm buying them from the apple store to make sure they work. I'm not interested in throwing money away and eventually 3rd party manufacturers will be able to do them.

My understanding is that Apple , for now, are the only suppliers of the lightning to usb cables.
