Did you really win one of the CPU's? I'm going to my first AMD event Monday night in Boston. The same one as you, The Reality Check.

I've gone to plenty of Microsoft events where you always get some nice goodies. ( So far 2 copies of Win xP Pro and a great Intel webcam among the choicest gifts).

' went to the Reality Check event last night. I won NOTHING. They gave out over 50 AMD xp CPU's.

I was admitted an hour early as a channel partner, system builder. They have a special drawing for these guys, They raffle off 10 CPU's to about the 40 partners, but I didn't win.:(

Then they had a competition to build a gaming system. The winner got $2500 and the runner-up got $500.

Then they raffled an unbeleivable gaming system. The winner went up and kissed it. I have never seen a gaming box like that.
Custom paint job, 7 fans, artistically modified, side windows and fluorescent lights galore.

I did get a couple of Tshirts. They gave out bb caps and shoulder bags, and other promo items. Excellent buffet, A few demonstrations, speaker discussions.

They had a bunch of the latest PC games set up on their CPU's for you to play with. Lots of hardware to fiddle with too.

The whole point of the show was not to claim that they are better than Intel but cheaper. They constantly emphasized the price differential.

I've gone to a few Microsoft events too. They are not as grand and flashy as AMD's Realty Check. There may be 40 attendees. You will get a nice gift like a copy of Win XP Professional.

In addition, they usually raffle half a dozen items. I've seen Xboxes,Invidia Video cards and Pent 4's given away.

These are more like a seminar. You sit and listen to a speaker for a half day session. They are informative and entertaining. I've gone to the "System Builders" and the "Technical Sales Specialist".

When MS intros a new product they have a Road Show which is larger and flashier.

These events are held throughout the year. You sign up at MS's Partner webpage.

BTW. the people doing these shows obviously like their job. They are having fun. I kind of wish I worked for Microsoft.

I never win anything.

Even an apple would be great.
