Spoofee 08-28-2006, 04:22 PM Apparently my co-worker's co-worker's sister has tried it and Starbucks told her it's fake, but they will still honor it this time around.
TTTTTTrent 08-28-2006, 07:27 PM I just used it at my local starbucks and the girl sounded like she knew about the deal already when I told her I had the coupon (drive-thru). She took it with no questions asked, although she understood the deal being for just an iced coffee--the plain stuff. I didn't complain and I drove away with a free coffee. Doesn't seem fake in this neck of the woods...maybe the starbucks referred to above just wasn't aware of the promotion?
schmuckguy 08-28-2006, 08:30 PM I used the coupon today in Lafayette, CA. It worked fine, no questions asked. I am going to use it everyday from now until september 30th when it expires. This deal is good.
chinkdup 08-28-2006, 10:31 PM my sister had a laminate copy of a similar coupon, for either a milk iced grande, or just regular iced grande. so i would assume this is the same or a similar promotion
thepharaohh 08-29-2006, 12:11 AM I htink its a fake but I used one earlier no problem! barista was confused, manager was confused, but didnt stop them from honoring it. Ill send my g/f in for coffee tomorrow:)
Given that Starbucks stock actually went down due to their own product (the frappucinos are actually worse than a McDonalds Big Mac)... I'm sure they would want to give some product away just to re-entice folks to come back and try something else. On a hot day what else tastes good but an Iced beverage?
JRS
snowie86 08-29-2006, 12:10 PM would they honor it if I printed it in B&W?
Scoopons 08-29-2006, 02:11 PM Saw this on Snopes.com regarding this coupon

koreangodfather 08-29-2006, 03:05 PM I just got back from Starbucks. The barista girl had to ask the manager and the manager looked slightly annoyed. She accepted, but only allowed a tall to be given instead of the grande size.
My buddy also got one earlier today. Apparently he got the grande size.
Starbucks' employees look confused but if they are accepting it whether it's fake or not, who cares.
Go and get your free ice coffee!!!!!
happypuppy 08-29-2006, 04:47 PM the coupon will only work in various locations. i actually work at a starbucks and the coupon does not apply to our store. customers were mad. =(
whttgr 08-29-2006, 06:08 PM Worked for me!
dchan34 08-29-2006, 06:14 PM The coupon works great, no question asked.
nyctown 08-29-2006, 06:22 PM I guess no one wants to be denied the drink....I will give it a try tonight.
Are you guys all printing the coupon in color?

thanks for the heads up...it saves most of us a trip for the freebie.
buzzy 08-30-2006, 12:47 AM Yep, I live in Seattle & I printed this out & gave it to my mom, and today when she went to use it, they denied her. So she ended up having to pay $10 for a couple of drinks (they wouldn't even give her one free).:(
batman4ever 08-30-2006, 08:30 AM yeah this deal is dead
shalease17 08-30-2006, 08:44 AM Dangit. I wish I would have read the thread before I printed 30 of them... ;)

Claim: Starbucks issued coupons via e-mail good for free iced grande beverages.
Status: Was true, but the company has since changed its mind.

I told you long ago...Starbucks stinks! :thumbs_do They are a greedy company that is full of themselves!:thumbs_do Their only concern is their bottom line and they cannot look beyond their overpriced products!:thumbs_do
I still remember the 9/11 incident and their response was (and continues to be) deplorable!!:thumbs_do Down with Starbucks:thumbs_do
**BTW their lattes make you fat and clog your arteries too! ;) **

Wrong! In a time of need (the Towers Falling and injured people) they made Paramedics pay for water to help the injured! Capitalism at it's worst! Shame on Starbucks! I personally have had further dealings with them and their attitude stinks! They don't even know (or care) how deplorable they are.
IF you ever need assistance and you are in front of a Starbucks, pray you have enough cash on you or you are out of luck!
**Here's proof if you are not familiar or think it's not true... http://www.snopes.com/rumors/starbuck.htm I personally, chose NOT to support this company.
Eldemila 08-30-2006, 07:17 PM Those of you who got it to go through were lucky. DH works for SB and they've been told not to accept them.
darylzero 08-30-2006, 08:05 PM I used it in Chicago yesterday and the guy was like huh did you fill out a survey? I'm like uh sure LOL. He took it and punched in the code and it worked, then he was all happy
spoofee12 08-31-2006, 11:17 AM it worked yesterday i gave the barista the coupon and he gave me a free iced coffee no questions asked
lsinger70 09-02-2006, 12:23 PM There was a news report on this on one of the evening Chicago news stations. As previously mentioned it was supposed to be in a limited area and to employees but has been spread along the internet (Hello Spoofee members!) So as mentioned Starbucks is longer accepting these coupons.
I missed the deal too :(
Mirancat 09-03-2006, 01:58 AM This was posted on abc.com:
Sept. 1, 2006 — CHICAGO (Reuters) - Caribou Coffee Co. Inc. is trying take advantage of a promotion that went awry for larger competitor Starbucks Corp., honoring coupons that Starbucks declared void this week.
Caribou said Friday that it would give free medium Cold Press iced coffee, iced Americano or iced tea to On Sept. 8 to anyone presenting one of the Starbucks iced coffee coupon that has been widely circulated on the Internet. :D
nyctown 09-09-2006, 01:19 PM Starbucks being sued because of the pulled offer. Ouch ouch!
