$90 for a 120 GB HD is still a great price. Should still be valid with the discounts but if you have doubt don't apply the discounts.

I hear that this deal is Very Hot that its back ordered to November 21 which there is no point in ordering anymore because rebate must be postmarked by 30 days of purchase.
Also there is no rebate :( I wouldn't touch this deal. But if you want to you can always return it... i think :p :D

BETTER DEAL :

HOT! - Western Digital 120gb 8mb cache hdd $58.50 after rebate at Dell Business!
Dang, unbelievable price on this hard drive. The entire line of WD "special edition" 8mb cache drives are known to deliver almost-SCSI performance at an IDE price (look at the benchmarks at SR). Search A0009295 to find it at $186.47. Add it to your cart for an automatic 15% off discount. Then send in for the $100 rebate. You can find it on the hard drive product page. Free shipping. DELL BUSINESS

Using this one you save a few more bucks, and if the other drive runs out this one mays till be in stock as it is a tad different 9too lazy to figure out how besides the description order and pic)

I have ordered one (of each) as well and I was wondering if I will be able to get the rebate for both!

The one offered by small business is backordered to around nov 25, like jon mentioned earlier. I suppose either one wouldnt matter.

One other thing to mention: tax is charged (which comes to about a $12 dollar increase). Just something that should be noted.

Of course, not everyone gets charged tax :)

Hey, I'm new here. Nice site. I hope you all understand that the 80GB Western Digital Drive retail version has the part number WD1200JBRTL, while the OEM is WD1200JB. The dell website states that the rebate is for the retail version only, and this makes sense bc I've never seen a rebate for an OEM item - it wouldn't even come with a UPC code. The only retail drive is the one that costs 198 - WD1200JBRTL. TO THOSE who posted above stating that this drive is on backorder, are you talking about the retail, or OEM? There seems to be no way of finding out unless you place your order on the Dell website...

Thanks!:)

In California, theres a lawsuit thats being built about stuff like this. I wonder how that turns out.

Apparently, theres been extreme circumstances where the customer was required to turn in more information than was originally asked of them. The case is that someone should _not_ need to do all this, and that simply purchasing the product is enough to qualify for the rebate.

Anyways, I went off topic.

OK,

I JUST got off the phone with DELL.

The rep told me that they had received tons of calls about it.

The Small Business Division received a non-functioning link to the Rebate Form - a fact they did not realize until after COB Friday.

DELL is working with Western Digital to correct the problem. They assured me that the REBATE WILL BE HONORED.

They are planning on putting the rebate PDF at the link and/or sending the PDF to the folks who ordered it.

Hope that this helps.

( To TheKwanz) Thanks for posting the rebate.

I have received a copy of the rebate in my e-mail as well.

I am glad that I had faith in DELL and waited it out.

FWIW: CompUSA is selling the same drive for approx $160 after rebates for Columbus Day Specials. That's $10 less than what it would have cost from DELL had the rebate not been honored (due to the 15% discount). So I wasn't really going to lose much.

BE CAREFUL. The rebate being sent out is for the "WD1200BBRTL" WHICH IS NOT THE 8MB BUFFER DRIVE. I am calling them back to find out what the deal is. Any of you who bought the "WD1200JBRTL" drive will not be able to submit this rebate since it applies to the non-special edition drive. Hopefully we can get the real rebate. I remember when I ordered this drive, it said it came with a $100 rebate in the item description.

For those that ordered within the rebate window and wont be receiving the item within the postmark time frame, I just got off the phone with Dell and they said that the rebate will still be honored as long as you send the required info because They see your ship date as well as the buy date.

A Dell representative called me that the drive would be delivered on Dec. 31st, 2002. Of course, I canceled my order.

I can't believe it takes more than 2 months to ship the hard drive.

I suspect the Dell and Western Digital are purposely doing that to make their loss least. They honor the rebate but make all the orders canceled - too bad...

I don't think dell or WD did this on purpose. I got the call today and they gave me a date of December 20th. I have not cancelled my order because I figure that it is still a damn good deal, and I will have plenty of time to cancel it if I see a better deal elsewhere.

I just think that anytime you see deals posted on sites like **********.net or spoofee.com that the company gets 20x the orders they ever thought they would have gotten. Sites like these are free advertising that they do not expect or plan on. Dell has handled this deal fairly well, updating the Rebate to meet the needs of the short supply so that you have 30 days to return the rebate from the shipping date. I hope this deal all works out and in the end, and just maybe my order will ship a bit earlier than the date they told me.

My order was delayed till Dec 31st too. I heard that the OEM people are recieving their HD's sometime in Nov with $100 credit from dell already. We have to wait till the 31st of Dec and then another 6-8 weeks for the rebate. I really think this is unfair for those who bought retail and that dell should do something to remedy the situation

Jet

My order is also being delayed until Dec 31.

I am 100% sure that this is just a tactic from Dell to minimize the lost. By the time they have our HDs in stock, the price has already dropped. And also a lot of the poeple are going to cancel the order.

Guys,

Anyone did check the status of the rebate? I checked myself yesterday and WD said they probably loss mine.

Can anyone scan the WD capacity label to me and email to so_jacky@hotmail.com.

Thanks,

Got my rebate as well!
This was prolly the best deal for the end of the year(2002!

The 60 GB Maxtor internal HDD from STAPLES comes very close too... $20.15 (after $30of$100-coupon, $30-exclusive rebate and $20-STAPLES rebate)!
... and I have anoother $20-STAPLES rebate on it pending!

Amazing HDD deals!!!

I just checked and it says:

"We're sorry, your rebate does not appear in our system at this time."

Well, looks like their on-line DB might is not really up to date so you better call them on the phone no. shown on that page!
