Summer is here and the Water Quality and Health Council, in partnership with the American Chemistry Council, is once again offering free pool test kits to the public through its Healthy Pools Campaign.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends swimmers check the pH and chlorine levels of swimming pools before getting into the water. Adequate pool chemistry helps reduce the risk of recreational water illnesses like "swimmer's ear," which CDC says is responsible for over two million trips to the doctor each year and $500 million in healthcare costs.
Order your free pool test kit today at Interactive Map « HealthyPools Blog. You are invited to return to that website to upload your pool readings to a national data collection map. There is even a smart phone-friendly view to make data uploading convenient poolside.
Have a safe and healthy summer!
