I am a mother of a 5 year old and a 20 month old - I can't always answer the phone.
Sometimes I can't find the phone
Sometimes I don't have a free hand to pick up the phone
and
Sometimes I don't feel like talking on the phone

If you have something important to tell me - that is what voicemail is for. Leave a voicemail that says "call me, I have something important to tell you"

If you don't it's no big loss now is it?

I concur!! The phone was ringing off the hook yesterday...and yet my mom was the only one with the brain to leave a message. Too bleep bleep bad for the others!

Oh, KMa, this reminds me of a time when my son was 2 weeks old. I answered the phone. It was my MIL. Just then, my son started crying because he was hungry, so I asked MIL politely to call back in a little bit because I needed to feed him. She called back in 2 minutes. allo?

in my house the answering machine is set to answer after 1 ring. EVERYONE gets a chance to talk to the machine

Call waiting tinkles me off. When you call and I am already on the phone, talk to the machine.

Not enough information. "I have something important to tell you" doesn't say if it's good news, bad news, neutral or what. Leave a voicemail that says, "call me, I have some great news", or "call me I need to talk to you about...". "Please call me right away" = probably bad news to me.

when people don't wash their hands after using the bathroom. I am this close to saying something to the next person I witness committing this nasty crime. I think my daughter may say something for me though....yesterday we were in the library, and someone walked straight from the stall to leave. I told Noelle "That's just disgusting that the lady didn't wash her hands." Noelle is my parrot at this point.

This happened at a Mexican restaurant my dh and I were eating at. My dh went in the same time as one of the cooks and the cook didn't wash his hands. We never ate their again.

And to think..

...you may wash your hands but now you must touch the handle exiting the bathroom that all the other 'non-washers' have just touched too! Double yuk!

I grab a couple of paper towels to open the door....or I'll use the inside of my shirt to open it. I haven't touched a handle in years. Oh, and by the way, better to dry your hands on your pants than use the air dryer...that just serves to spread germs all over you....

I hate this - especially when they do it in my home! The bathroom is right off the living room and you know that when the toilet flushes and the door opens less than a second after..... I am cringing every time they touch something!

I am putting signs up in all the washrooms of the building I care for, telling people how to wash their hands.

With all the flu scare it's the only thing that works. I often get suggestions of of putting out hand sanitizer stuff and wiping things down with alcohol. I do disinfect (bleach) but the most effective thing an individual can do is wash their hands.
