These do not actively isolate you from noise. They do not have a set of mics to capture ambient noise for cancellation. They merely fit tightly to isolate you from the outside.
They may work very well, I don't know, but, they are NOT active noise cancellation headphones. |

That's why they are noise ISOLATING and not CANCELLING headphones. There's a difference. Read up about it.

Considering that the newest buzzword in headphones is noise cancellation, people are likely to get confused and then suckered into buying what amounts to an old set of headphones.
These AR's are simply a supposedly tight fitting set. It is easy to market these as noise isolating and thereby confuse the buyer. You aren't getting anything special here. No noise reduction circuit. They may work well as conventional headphones but they aren't capable of noise reduction. |

I might not have tried noise cancellation, but I think noise isolation is much better anyway. Cancellation sends an inverse signal for ambient noise, but many physics professors will tell you that it only works so well, and I can't find an audiophile pair of cancellation headphones, so it might have a negative effect on sound quality.
With that said, does anyone have anything to actually say about these earbuds? What's quality like, or how durable are they? I can't find reviews on amazon, and I suck at google. :/ |
