Wow, that's like 2 1/4 gallons at $24 or just over $10.66 per gallon. At least it has a shelf life.

Thinking of it that way, what a rip off. I definitely don't recommend it for use with cereal or just drinking it at home.

I personally like it a lot because I can take one to work with me every morning.

That's why I buy soy milk. I don't consume a whole lot of milk, so if I buy cow's milk, it goes bad quick. I'm not too sure about all that rbgh either in regular milk. I just started working part time at Earth Fare, a natural foods store, so I get a 20% discount on this stuff.

I don't drink soy. It has pytoestrogens. :-)

FYI, the different brands of lactose-free milk are ultra pasteurized and will also have a ~2-3 month shelf life when refrigerated. I know this from personal experience, as I don't drink much milk either, aside from cereal now and then. It costs much more for the gallon, and doesn't come in large sized containers, but makes up for it in this regard. Not quite as long a shelf life as soy milk, and can't say much about the rbg hormones, but still a deal since you can get a liter for a mere $2 when on sale. Great deal for those who don't drink much milk, and also a great if you are (*big surprise*) lactose intolerant.

They're starting to carry this brand at the local grocery store. It's as much for a half-gallon of the organic as it is for a gallon of the non-organic. Considering we tend to pitch nearly 25% of our milk when consumption winds up outpacing the storage life of our gallon milk, it's a hellava fair price to pay for clean milk.

Milk does not contain rbgh. This is a common misconception. Even Ben & Jerry's has to put this disclaimer on their label.

Unfortunately they cite no sources, a sad habit these days. But I have not time right now to find sources for them.
