I don't trust refurbished products since they tend to fail but if you're still paying to rent a cable modem I would definitely recommend buying this one since it's the best one on the market and will more than pay for itself.
 
too bad I just bought the lower model a couple weeks ago.
 
I bought a refurb model and Comcast wouldn't let me use it because the MAC address had been registered to another customer at some point in the past. It was bullshit but they wouldn't budge.
 
wow that is bull that they wouldnt let you register. that is why i always pay extra and get a modem with haxorware, can change your own mac.
 
If you have triple play with Comcast, tv, phone and internet the
Arris model telephony modem costs $200 on amazon.
Always buy new, otherwise the mac might be already used.
 
bought a refurb modem, failed after 60 days .. no returns .. waste of money
 
It sounds like Comcast just wanted your money to rent from them instead. :-/
