I've used the Harbor Freight version for 4 yrs. with no problems
and it only cost $5.

I was thinking the same thing about the Harbor Freight 12V top-off charger that I bought for $5- I use it to keep the battery on my riding mower from discharging during the winter - has worked well for last 4 years

Just rec'd it (2 day shipping to AZ).
Will report any issues...

I used the HFT 2A float charger many times on my barely used 2nd car, but it seems to just overcharge it (because it's not 'smart'). Then when it comes time to start the car, the battery died after 1 or 2 attempts (even though it was at ~12.5V).
