1.4Ghz Celeron 14.1" Screen 40GB 256Mb DDR RAM $499

"cheap notebook just to surf the net and word proccess" ... and run almost every PC game on the market up to 3 years ago.

It is sad that so many people think you can't game on a machine over 10 times as fast as my first gaming machine (Pentium 133) which itself ran thousands of games.

Believe it or not, I am finding the new Dell value series (B120, B130, and 1300) to be very good for the price. I just had my cousin buy a 1300 with the 1.4 processor, 512MB RAM, 40GB HD, and a 15.4" widescreen with DVD-ROM/CD-RW for $638 shipped.

Although the $499 price tag is appealing, add shipping to that and it will come to about $525. For about $75-$125 more, you can get a much bigger display and some more memory. Or, buy the memory seperate and install it yourself to save money if you find a deal on the memory. I just like to get them pre-configured for my customers.

I wonder what the quality is like compared to the 6000/9300 machines I'm used to handling.
