I'm just the person who can answer your question. :D Personally, I have a Hauppauge WinTV GO bargain card that I've had for over four years, and I've never had a problem with it. It's great for watching TV on your computer but it has the capture source that you can capture video in any standard video program. It has a coax and an RCA video input (more expensive models have more) so you can hook your cable or dish into the coax and use the tuner box to tune, since you can't use WinTV's tuner because it's satellite. Anyway, any TV tuner card will allow you to do that. The WinTV GO can be had on a deal for $30-$50. I paid $30 a few years ago, not sure how I got such a good deal. The card is a warrior. I've had it in many different computers and it's never had one bit of trouble, and Hauppauge's support online is excellent also with the latest versions of drivers for every system platform. Anyway, that's my two cents. Good luck, let me know if you need more information.

    OS

it says OS as windows 95, nothign else

now this has been a problem with many cards i saw, they all are onto windows 95 or windows 98. but that's where they stop.

i had a avermedia card earlier that had real problems with OS other than Win 95/98 coz it has no other drivers. even then it frequently had problems even on win 95/98.

i have a TV hooked up with dish device already. what i wanted to do was like if it can be done in a way that TV keeps running and i can get a signal to my computer without having to direct the output to the computer.
making TV and pc both work at the same time showing diff. channels?

You could put a splitter on the dish service I would assume. I'm using the WinTV GO card with updated drivers from their website on Windows XP. It's flawless.

Well, it's always returnable. I can tell you that my WinTV GO works GREAT with Windows XP and I normally use Windows Movie Maker to capture since it's really easy and it never messes up.

On another note, why would a card that is only compatible with Windows 95 still be available on the market? ;) Just thought of that one.

    picture quality

    one thing

about the picture quality, what would be the quality of the picture that i

can capture, i want a good quality that is actually worth recording onto a

CD and good enough so that i can show it to others through a projector or TV.

Well, if you use high quality coax cable and connect it right, it'll look just fine. You just need to make sure that you know how to capture and make sure that the settings in whatever program you're using to capture are correct and that they're going to record to the format that you want to burn to VCD/SVCD and whatnot. The actual card should do the job fine though.

Edit: Also, on another note, I can probably take some samples of different formats etc. and send them to you somehow. Let me know using my contact information below if you want more information and some samples of different channels etc.

Just in reference to this whole discussion, note that the WinTV USB Tuner is available for $70 - $20 mail in rebate at CompUSA. It ends up being $50. An external tuner might give you more connectivity options.
