DELL is offering the Western Digital 120GB hard drive with 8MB cache for $186 and change - but until the 13th they are giving an instant 15% reduction to that price and there is a $100.00 mail-in rebate from WD.

Your bottom line price is less than $60.00 and DELL is offering FREE SHIPPING too.

Such a deal !!!!!

Wondering does the rebate work with the rebate.. i know that stores like bestbuy do not let u have a discount on rebated items.

$90 for a 120 GB HD is still a great price. Should still be valid with the discounts but if you have doubt don't apply the discounts.

I hear that this deal is Very Hot that its back ordered to November 21 which there is no point in ordering anymore because rebate must be postmarked by 30 days of purchase.
Also there is no rebate :( I wouldn't touch this deal. But if you want to you can always return it... i think :p :D

BETTER DEAL :

HOT! - Western Digital 120gb 8mb cache hdd $58.50 after rebate at Dell Business!
Dang, unbelievable price on this hard drive. The entire line of WD "special edition" 8mb cache drives are known to deliver almost-SCSI performance at an IDE price (look at the benchmarks at SR). Search A0009295 to find it at $186.47. Add it to your cart for an automatic 15% off discount. Then send in for the $100 rebate. You can find it on the hard drive product page. Free shipping. DELL BUSINESS

Using this one you save a few more bucks, and if the other drive runs out this one mays till be in stock as it is a tad different 9too lazy to figure out how besides the description order and pic)

seems like they are getting rid of all the old stuff and probably going to start selling serial ata pretty soon.

Rebate arrives?

When will the rebate be posted?

Is there a phone number or email for the rebate department?

I ordered this one yesterday and my order shows that it will filled only by november 10th. Order the one offered by small business. 10 bucks more but worth it.

...ShreeKarthik

Which one did you order?

This one:

... or this one:
http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/...=search.asp&icompatid=&instock=0&refurbished=

Did you get the rebate form?
I have ordered one (of each) as well and I was wondering if I will be able to get the rebate for both!

Note that the page with the rebate link says:
"Buy a Western Digital 120 GB 7200 rpm RETAIL packaged hard drive from Dell.com and receive a $100 rebate via mail from Western Digital"

The one offered by small business is backordered to around nov 25, like jon mentioned earlier. I suppose either one wouldnt matter.

One other thing to mention: tax is charged (which comes to about a $12 dollar increase). Just something that should be noted.

Of course, not everyone gets charged tax :)

The one i ordered from Dell Home was back ordered and it was 186 bucks. The one i ordered from Dell Small Business was ok and it shows that it would be shipped on oct.16th. Now rebate is something that i am trying to get from Dell SB. Let u know as it progresses.

Hey, I'm new here. Nice site. I hope you all understand that the 80GB Western Digital Drive retail version has the part number WD1200JBRTL, while the OEM is WD1200JB. The dell website states that the rebate is for the retail version only, and this makes sense bc I've never seen a rebate for an OEM item - it wouldn't even come with a UPC code. The only retail drive is the one that costs 198 - WD1200JBRTL. TO THOSE who posted above stating that this drive is on backorder, are you talking about the retail, or OEM? There seems to be no way of finding out unless you place your order on the Dell website...

Thanks!:)

Anyone know if it's possible to cancel the OEM and then purchase the retail instead? Backorder untill November 25 is horrible.

Oh Just call their customer service. Dell is pretty good at customer service. You can then order from their small business division from the web. The telephone thing could be quite irritating though. Dial the extension 66966 and then hit 6 or 7, i forgot.

They also have message boards you can use to cancel your order. I did that last month when they took forever to ship an 80 gb hard drive I ordered which turned out to be a good thing for I ordered a 120 gb HD for $150 with $100 rebate. :)
