    WD 120GB7200 2MB possibly $79 @ CC Ar

Circuit City has this drive for $189 available now. Order one online with in-store pickup. Pick it up Friday but may I suggest in the afternoon - it is likely to be quite busy in the morning.

They should honor the $189 as that is what your online order sheet will say even thought the price is rumored to be $199 that day. Rumor has it that you will receive 2 rebates, one for $40 and one for $70 at the checkout. If you do not you can always return it.

Hey there, I'm badly in need of hard drive space and was wondering if I could go about getting two of these suckers? I've never ordered before, think I could do it twice under different aliases?

Since it isn't 100% that this rebate deal would go through what are some valid excuses for returning 2 drives?

    Thanks

If you've never ordered before, then, why not learn to walk before you run? I'm NOT trying to be a completely condescending prick when I say this, it's just that, do you really wanna dive into the deep end of the pool your first time out? Do the deal correctly for one, keep it simple and successful, and be happy. After you've dealt with these rebates a few times then try buying 2 at the store and submitting one under a friend's name at their address.

An "alias" under your address sure as heck would never work anyway...limit of 1 per address and all that.

..and I say "deal" because often getting a rebate, even the most basic of basic, valid of valid, can require a bit of effort<G>

My son who is 13 (and it is not years ) is receiving many rebates to our home address while I receive them to my work address. You may want to check with your employer that it is OK. Also, you are taking some risk that the mail to your name at work will actually be brought to you since you should be using your name and not the name of the business and, say, #123 rather than suite 123 (most of the rebates will be sent to individuals only - businesses are excluded).

Should you decide to buy 2 items buy only one with your credit card (1% cash back) and the other one with cash as frequently the receipt or cash register printed rebate will include your name from your credit card and if you send 2 rebates with the same name (or the name of rebate submitter does not match name on the receipt) you are runniing additional chance of having your rebate denied.

I never had a problem returning any volume of items to a merchant. Granted I never tried more than 2 but I have not seen a return policy which would restrict the number of items which could be returned.

Still I suggest you try with with one drive before you realize why rebates boom like casinos. Yes you can 'win' money but what are the odds. Here are some examples: I thru away the box before cutting the UPC, I cut the wrong symbol, my child got sick and I had no time to mail it in in time, I lost my receipt, I forgot to fill in all the rebate's blanks, I forgot alltogether

    Good luck!

I just purchased the hard drive online for store pickup. I called circuit city and they are not aware of any rebate for this HD. Any idea where this rumor started or if it's legitimate?

Also, I'm wondering if you need to:
    1. Buy the HD on Friday or
    2. Pick it up on Friday for this deal to work.

I'll go to the store and find out tonight probably.

you know what guys? thanks for the advice, I don't want to test beginners luck here, so I'll just go for one drive.

But I'm curious as the guy above me asks, where was this 411 leaked from? I've never bought at a store before I usually go through online retailers like newegg.com, so whats the return policy? will I only get store credit? (would prefer cash back if the drive is unopened)...

    Thanks everybody!

This so called rumor that FreeAfterRebate is talking about is just that. I purchased the drive online. When I went to the store to pick it up there were no rebates spitting out and the clerks knew nothing of it. How about confirming these deals before you tell FreeAfterRebate. That was a complete waste of time for all of us.
