    RebatesHQ problem w/Maxtor 40GB UPC

I just got notice from rebateshq that the UPC I sent in for the Office Depot $40 rebate on the Maxtor 40GB 7200 HD was not correct....well it was the correct UPC, so I'm guessing that once again they don't know what they are doing. Has anyone else been notified of this?

Check out Inu's thread on "failed rebate".

Maybe Maxtor did the same thing for the OD rebate form as for the staples one.

Mind giving me a linky to the rebate for OD that you printed/submitted.

Never mind...found it..well..the OD form does at least correctly identify the model as L01J040. If your UPC showed the same, then I don't get it. There WAS a debacle recently at BB or staples, I forget where, wherein WD was packaging the 2MB drives inside the 8MB retail boxes, both pissing people off who were getting less than what they paid and making them ineligible for the rebate. Check your photocopy and make certain it says L01J040.

    Call maxtor anyway...

..or just call Parago and argue it with them until they do a "as a one time courtesy we are going to validate your rebate crap".

    Is it annoying?

Yes, cause it makes it sound like they are doing you a favor, like it's yer fault, when it's theirs, but in the end, you'll get the rebate.

Yeah, that's what I had to do a number of times. Most of the time though, you'll have to talk to a number of representatives before they'll validate it, but in the end, they'll usually validate it. I had the same problem, and I called up about seven times, and then someone finally validated it.

cpaladin, I purchased the HD in store, so the rebate coupon I submitted was the one generated in-store from the upc when they rang up the order, it has to be right.

Call Parago. Look up the thread for "failed" rebate, the number and all is in there. One or two calls, you'll have it validated.

I mean, you sent THE rebate form from the store with THE upc from the box, just be polite but firm, you'll get it validated.

Cool. I used to hate Parago, and it's not that I now love them...

    buuuuuttt....

They seem to be the most accomodating of all, and pretty easy to deal with. Now if you want some fun, deal with TCA <G>

Our local store honors rebates in store when things like this happens. Assuming you have a copy of the upc.
