That is a pretty good deal. However, I think the 2nd gen adds multi-zone capability where as the 1st gen (which costs less) is single zone.
Amazon is now selling it for $249. I can't find the $229 version anymore. One bonus I noticed is that our local gas company is offering a $30 mail in rebate for purchasing a Nest
