Good price, but their frame selection is kinda dorky. Strictly nerd class frames here.

I ordered a pair (one of the lesser dorky ones) just to see if it's the real deal. Should arrive in a week or so. Will post when I receive them.

I know what you mean, rjgraves, some of the glasses they have are pretty dorky-looking. I purchased two pairs from them about a year ago (the less dorky ones, w/ anti-glare coating on both). I paid around $50 for both, and still wear them today (actually, I'm wearing my grey pair right now). I was pleased w/ their customer service when one of the pairs I received needed a replaced nose pad (they promptly sent me a pair of nose pads and a set w/ small screws and a screwdriver, as well as enclose everything in a new eyeglasses case - at no charge.) They're slow to respond to e-mails, though, but customer service over the phone is great (fast & friendly).:D

FYI, be sure to check the measurements of the frames before ordering. Just make sure the parts that go over your ears are not too short (if they're too lengthy, you can always remove the plastic tip, clip the metal part, then put the plastic tip back on). :D

Interesting. I have three pairs of glasses right now. One plastic pair from Sears, plastic sunglasses from Sears (got both for around $125, quality is good) and one older pair from Costco which are polycarbonate. I'd be curious to know the quality of these glasses, especially the prescription. For this price, why not get another pair, or two? You can never have to many. One for my car would be nice. It's nice that they have customer support too. Let me know how they are, I like some of the frames. I'd give it a try.

I received my glasses today, and I have to say, this is the best deal I have ever gotten off spoofee. They don't have the widest selection of frames, but most people should be able to find something they like. I originally got this pair for a backup, but I like them so much I am using the old pair I paid $400 for as the backups! Ordering is quick and easy too. I will buy my glasses from them as long as they are around. Many thanks to penpen for this awesome post. You have saved me a bunch of money, especially if any of my kids ends up needing glasses.

How's the frame quality? How's the lens quality? I'm picky about my glasses and this seems to be too good to be true.

I've found the frame quality of the glasses I purchased to be comparable to a previous pair I purchased for over $100. Mine are sturdy, and retain their form well (I don't have to keep bending them to keep them fitting well).

Regarding lens quality, this is from their web site:
All of our standard orders are premium quality 1.56 High index High impact resistance lenses with full UV protection and special strong anti-scratch coating . Full Anti-Reflective plus Anti-Radiation coating is only $4.95 extra (compare this to the other guys)
Knowing that am not the most careful person w/ my glasses (I sometimes just throw them in my purse w/ my keys), I purchased this extra coating. After a year, there are a few faint lines, but no scratches that are noticeable. In terms of lens thickness: these lenses (index 1.56) are somewhat thinner than plastic or glass lenses ("For conventional plastic, the ratio (or "index") is 1.50. For glass, it is 1.52.". *The higher the number, the thinner the lenses) If you can determine what the index # is for your current lenses, this would give you an idea of the difference in thickness the zenni optical lenses would have.

Of note, for those with high prescriptions who need lenses with higher indices (up to 1.7 or 1.9) these may be too thick/heavy for you. Since my prescription is mild, lens' index is not really an issue.

Since these can't be tried on first (to determine how they look/feel/fit), they may not be for individuals who are selective. However, I think for people who need a back up pair, who don't have strong prescriptions, or who just like having a lot of glasses, this is a good deal. For me, I feel I was fortunate that I was able to find something that I like enough to wear every day.

Yeah, definitely. Sounds like I might give it a try. Might be nice to keep a pair of glasses in the car. My prescription is mild as well so these should be no problem for me.

Yeah, these are great glasses for those w/ mild prescriptions, and a GREAT company to deal with.

My lenses are still looking great - scratch free - but my frames broke. :( . I just called Zenni Optical at 415-785-7003 and spoke with Tibor. Zenni Optical will be sending me a new set of frames out right away (should arrive in a couple days).

Did I mention that they're not charging me for this? :)

btw, they'll have a new whole new set of spring hinge lenses available in about a month, starting @ $23.95 a pair. They already have a couple available (3307 & 3309).

Wow, incredible. I get my driver's license very soon and will want to keep a pair in the car, so maybe I'll wait for their new frames and then check it out!

Sounds like great customer service!

Watch out Everyone! Erik's getting his driver's license soon!

Just teasing! Congratulations!!!! :D

Yeah, I already have two pairs, but I'm planning on getting more in a month when more of the spring hinge frames are available. I like to keep one pair in my purse & one at my desk, but maybe I'll get a pair to keep on the nightstand. Oh and maybe I'll get a pair of sunglasses too :)

zenni optical

lets see what i have to say about zenni optical, yes it has good prices, but on their customer service sucks, the glasses aren't made in america, they are made in CHINIA, i ordered my husband a pair back on 3-04-2006 and now it's the end of may going into june and still no glasses. i can really say you need to find out where your glasses are being made, i can get my contacts faster then i can my husband's glasses, i had to make them give me a refund for the glasses. I AM LOOKING AT OUTER SITES TO FIND ONE THAT MAKES THE EYE GLASSES IN THIS COUNTRY.

I am all for buying American, but sometimes I just don't have a choice. These glasses are the cheapest around, and I have not had a bit of trouble with Zinni Optical. I have bought 5 pairs over the years and each time it was a great experience. If you find another place to buy glasses this cheap, and are made in America, please post so I can give 'em a try.

They are a great deal, but they do have poor customer service and shipping times for any "special" order items, such as tinted lenses. I was able to get one normal pair in about 10 days but the tinted was 6 weeks. When I called them, I always got the same person and she said they were calling the factory in China to see what the holdup was. I guess they get them sent overnight to California a few times a week.

I agree I rather buy American IF I can ,BUT that is not so easily done. I am sericously thinking of ordering some I don't think they are all that dorky(especialy for the prices) I just bought a pair of prescription sunglasses a few months ago for just under $200. and absolutley hate them,I would rather spend about $30. and even wait a few weeks longer to get them, then I wouldn't feel so guilty if I end up not liking them. How important are the measurments? I am not having much luck in finding measurments that are equal to the ones I am wearing, that is one of the only things holding me back from ordering. Is say the bridge measurment more important then front length or vice versa or so on?
