    The description doesn't say much about this, but from what I found, this is a SATA type drive right?

    Uhh... 12X, non-dual layer, $70 -$20 rebate=$50.

    NEC, Sony and Pioneer all sell 16X dual layer burners for $50 or less with NO rebates. Suckers?

    $50, yes, but those are OEMs, no software, manuals, nuts, bolts, etc. Imagine buying one for the first time & wondering how it works.

    this plextor is comparable to those 16x burners in speed. i think it's a great deal. plextor makes great burners.

    nec, sony and pioneer suck man. and who needs dual layer anyway. the media is ridiculously expensive.
