    need help

i found some interesting items like, Verbatim 48x12x48 CDRW Drive (item # VBT481248A), $19.99 after $ 30 MIR from this week officemax in-store specials (Lynchburg or Harrisonburg, VA). but i couldn't place an order of it on line (the item not found by search). other items there (see below) were ok.

is there any way to use 20 off 100 coupon for these in-store special items? or is there any other coupons for them?

my initial idea was as follows,

    Verbatim 48x12x48 CDRW Drive (item # VBT481248A) 49.99
    Kingston DC133MHz 128MB Memory (KVR-PC133/128) 17.99x2
Belkin Components Double Sided Copy Clip (F8E665) 3.00
Belkin Components Waverest Gel Mousepad (F8E262) 6.00
Belkin Components Canned Air 12 oz. (F8E412) 6.00
    total 100.97
    coupon -20
    *MIR -55
    Final cost $25.97 shipped
    * only one rebate for kingston 128 mb memory

I ordered the Verbatim 48x12x48 just a little while ago. Not found via Search, but go to your shopping cart, and use the Order-by-Number feature off to the right. Enter the SKU and hit Add button, and it shows up in your cart, or at least it did for me. Got that, the leather chair and the canned air, using the $20 off $100 link on the Spoofee front page.

    Good luck!

    Kingston DC133MHz

does anybody have any idea what Kingston DC133MHz 128MB Memory Upgrad (officemax item# 20086256) is? i ordered it thinking that it's a PC133 sdram memory since it's in the ad along with other 256 and 512 sdrams.
    Thanks.:(

    need help again

i tried kvr-133/128 with my computer, HP Pavilion 6535, and it didn't work (did not start up). i don't know much about memory but, i thought that PC133 was backward compatibe with 100mhz sockets in my computer and it would work. i am trying to upgrade my computer (with currently 128 mb) into 256 mb. i found the ones (64 mb x2) in the computer were hyundai PC100s.

this kvr-133/128 just doesn't work with my computer or there is a way to get around it?

in case it's useless to me, how can i return this thing to officemax? i ordered it with several other things and used a 20 off 100 coupon.

the memory spec of my computer (from HP.COM) is as follows. it came with originally 68mb and i upgraded once with two 64 mbs.

Component Attributes RAM (standard) 64megabytes (MB)
    SDRAM standard
Maximum Speed 256 MB (2 x128 MB DIMM)
    synchronous Sockets 100 MHz

    DIMMs Size Two 168-pin
    Type Supported 16, 32, 64, and 128 MB DIMMs
    Pairs Required No
    SDRAM, 100 MHz,
Intel PC SDRAM unbuffered DIMM specification,
    revision 1.0 compliant

DIMM modules for the HP Pavilion PC must meet the following requirements
h Synchronous Dynamic Random Access Memory (SDRAM) (Only use this type of memory.)
    h 168 pins
    h Intel version 1.0 compliant
    h Single-sided or double-sided
    h 3.3 Volts
    h 64-bit unbuffered
    h Intel 4-clock
    h 66 MHz/10 ns, 100 MHz/10 ns, or 133MHz/10ns
NOTE: PC133MHz RAM is backward compatible. In most cases, it will work in systems that use PC100 RAM. However, the PC133 RAM will run at the lower speed of PC100MHz.

Here's the link for Kingston for your machine. Looks like they recommend something else. You could e-mail them and see what they say about the kvr.

The store should at least give you an exchange for PC100 if here's a compatibility problem.

not all pc133 SDRAM is backwards compatible with pc100... it depends on who made the RAM. i know that PNY's isn't (i tried it myself and didn't work, so i checked their webpage... and it said they no longer made it backwards compatible even tho the clerk at CC told me it'd work).

It *used* to be true that pc133 was backwards compatible to pc100. With a few exceptions, for example it basically never worked with an FIC VA503+ and FIC even stated as so, but, by and large it worked jolly fine. Got lots of old pc133 ram running in pc100 and pc66 systems right now.

The new pc133 sdram is double density, not single. The older boards can't handle it, and that's the problem. So, you need single density pc100 ram, even single density pc133 ram would likely work, but stick with what does work.

I DO see deals at officemax/depot sometimes where they drop the price of pc100 128mb down to around 20 something with a 10 dollar rebate.

Incidentally, you can do 3 mousepads. Each color has a different UPC number and is listed on the rebate form as a different product. So you can do blue, black, and silver.
