free cables at Best Buy YMMV

    Taken from ---------

Go to the Cable Modem Accessories Section, and look for the Self Installation Kits.
At my local BB, there are(were) 2 kits, one from Adelphia, and 1 from Cox.

    The one from Adelphia was $24 - $24 INSTANT REBATE = $0.00, no Limit/customer/visit.
    It includes:
Short Coaxial Cable (with connectors)(6 ft.)
Long Coaxial Cable (with connectors)(25 ft.)
    USB Cable A-B (6 ft.)
    Ethernet Cable M-M Cat5 (7 ft)
    Cable Line Splitter 1->2
Cable Line Clips (for hammering into baseboard to slink Coax across the room with)
    Wrench
    Self-Activation CD (Includes User Manual)
Adelphia Power Link mouse pad and Welcome Brochure

All of the Coax had connectors on them...I didn't really understand what the crappy plastic wrench was for, but hey, what do you expect for the price?

    The One from Cox was $29 - $29 INSTANT REBATE = $0.00.
I didn't get any of the cox ones, simpley because it didn't have nearly as many goodies as the Adelphia one, and my arms were getting tired

I walked out of there with about 15 of them yesterday, took them up to the register, they all rang up for $0.00....the CSR didn't bat an eye.

Who couldn't use a free USB, or Ethernet cable?

    BB

I tried to get just one free kit once. It was priced $29.99-$29.99 instant rebate, with no excusions in the advertisement or on the card next to the item. When going though the check-out, the instant rebate wouldn't work, and I argued for 40 minutes with the store manger. They changed the signage while I was there and offered the kit for $10 off ($19.99). From then on, they have a big sign that reads "Free modem kits ONLY WITH IN-STORE ACTIVIATION OF A CABLE MODEM."

    I hate BB!

worked for me, I got three. I purchased a dvd and they did not say a thing. CSR just rang them up and as long as it recorded she did not care.

Not bad, now I have some spare ethernet, usb and enough cable to put a cable run to another tv.

    Thanks for the info.

I couldn't find them at lunch (but I did manage to snag two GF4 Ti4200 vid cards before they even made it onto the shelves). I was probably looking in the wrong spot. I'll try again tonight. Does anyone have the SKUs or can you tell me where in BB to look? They all pretty much have the same layout.

    Thanks.
