Brands don't normally matter THAT MUCH. I use a standard SanDisk in mine and it works fine, but the brand shouldn't matter. With my Kodak DX3600 2.2MP camera, I can take about 200-250 pictures on my 128MB card, so that should give you a relative idea of how many pictures you can get with a better camera on a bigger card, etc. Believe me, it'll hold more than enough. For prices, keep checking the boards, we sometimes have CompactFlash deals.

Do you know if the SanDisk is of type I or II? Since the powershots are small, they can only fit type I cards (type I are thinner than type II)....but the description for SanDisk is that it is a type II card...I want to make sure it's going to be compatible...because i will mostly buy the cards when there's a good deal online...returning it will be a pain if it is not compatible....Anyone with a s400, please advice! Thanks again!

I believe mine is a Type I. I don't think many devices use Type II. It should tell you somewhere in the Canon documentation.
