I bought three of these last time it came around. I love it. It looks sharp, its fast, and is very expandable for a compaq. You drop a gig of ram in that baby and she is smokin.
Oh, and I paid less than this!
Would this be a decent deal for a 13 year old to use as a gaming computer?
You would need to upgrade the RAM and the video card, but other than that I think it would be good. Your main concerns with gaming are CPU speed, RAM and video support. IMO. Spend another 200-300 dollars on the internals and youre good to go, and still at less than $500.
you would need to spend it on an nvidia 6600 gt which is around $100-120 now and atleast another 512 MB of ram which costs $25 at circuitcity now. It's good enough for mediocor gaming but not on the new games like call of duty 2 etc... Oh and you need to upgrade the power supply to atleast 350W (vs. the 250 W in that machine now), the 350W power supply is FAR at compusa right now, grab one! The power supply should give you enough power to support the video card upgrade! Good luck. I would also recommend a 19" LCD too b/c you don't want to kid wearing glasses too soon, lol.
Yep, the monitor is another very important part of the computer. No matter how good the video quality of of your PC is, itll look like crap on on a crappy monitor.
Good call, choen.
I just picked one up and you can also get an Exson CX4800 All-in-One for $120 which has $120 in rebates when purchased with this PC.

Epson is correct. Good printer and you can get generic ink carts off ebay very reasonable, 10 packs for $25 shipped (4 blk and 2 ea of the 3 colors)
