Good deal, true...but these companies are pushing out all their old laptops. The pentium M's are actually 2 generations slower than the current Intel laptop CPU's.

Core Duo and Core 2 Duo are the newer laptop processors.

I think Pentium M is only one generation older than Core Duo or Core Solo. What is Core 2 Duo?

Core 2 Duo will be out the later half of this month. If the desktop version is a reflection of the notebook, it's going to be awsome CPU. I am happy I held off buying a notebook earlier in the summer.

Pentium M is 2 generations older than the current Intel CPU's...

Core 2 Duo's run 40% cooler and 40% faster than all recent CPU's (beating out the fastest AMD X2 processors available)...the laptop versions of these CPU's should be availble within a month or 2, this is why you guys are seeing alot of price breaks on older models. Don't fall for them!

The new MacBook Pro's are coming out with Core 2 Duo's too.

There is always great new technology in the next wave. That is the story of computers. It is still a great deal on a cheap laptop. If your wife or mother has been hounding you about getting her a laptop this deal is is hard to beat. If you need a laptop to do most office type tasks this is probably a good deal. If you want to be able to design a piping system for a nuclear power plant while rendering a 2 hour home video and using photoshop cs to touch up 20 images of you sunbathing, while playing DOOM 3 in windowed mode you should probably drop more than $400 dollars on a laptop anyway.

$400 dollars for a laptop of this level is a good spoofee deal, thanks.

There are three rebates, you could try for all:
    PC0NZ valid 8/6-8/7
    PC0P8 valid 8/6-8/7
    PC0PB valid 8/8-8/12

Brings the price down to around $100....
