Wow this is quite a deal! I purchased the TI84 last weekend for 89.99 from Staples. I was lucky enough to use my 20% coupon from Spoofee so got a good deal too! Plus discovercard gives an extra 5% cashback on school supplies.

Ti 83+ will pretty much get you through college with no problem. Though some professors of mine did ban anything TI-89 and up during testing.

My kid is going high school this year. Should I buy it for him? And what model? Or wait untill he get instructions what model to buy? Please advice as I graduated not in US. Thanks!

maybe ask your teacher what models they usually use? Some teachers wouldn't mind TI-89 but many do because it's really powerful and have less work for the students.

The standard is a TI-83. But if most of the classes use 89, then buy that.

I am a math teacher and this is the BEST calculated - and the one that most high schools and colleges use as well as what is allowed on some of the standardized testing. As a teacher, I had to learn all the models and the 83 (and I assume the new 84) was by far the easiest to use. The 86 was terrible and the 89 was difficult but could do calculus.
