Cool. Nice selection, so you can pick the brand you want most.
Thanks!

I was told that some of these drives are Lite-Ons

It's an especially cool deal for those who hate doing rebates, more so if you can hop on down to your local OM and pop $29 + tax for one.
If someone REALLY wants a liteon, then it would seem to me easier just to pop $40.99 at www.newegg.com and get free shipping on a liteon, eliminating the "cross my fingers it's a liteon" game we all do. Although I spose that's part of the fun, like buying a grab-bag
You can get a 52x32x52 black liteon for just $43 with free shipping at newegg as well....nice deal for the folks with black cases.
oOo... I have a comp with black cases!!!!
=D
Yeah... I was looking at that Lite-On black bezzel, but the OfficeMax.com sight has a 52x24x52 MicroAdvantage CD-RW for $9.98 after $40 mail in rebate!! Then add something small to make it $50 so you get free shipping.

You can paint it. I do. I use black "wet sand" sandpaper to lightly rough up the plastic, use rustoleum to prime, then I use about 4-5 coats of $5 autobody paint for the top coats, with an extremely LIGHT sand in between each coat. You can paint one any color you want for $10 bucks, little more if you need the paper as well cause you don't already have some.Originally Posted by x_OoO_x
This is the only way I know to match something where the front bays are silver, or some other color. It's not the way some super pro-am whose the mac daddy at case modding would do it, but it does work and works well since autobody paint is chip resistent and 4-5 coats creates a pretty thick bond.
Remove the buttons if you can, oh, and obviously I mean to remove the plastic front from the drive before painting![]()
Lite-On is a very popular manufacturer of cd-rw and dvd-rom drives. The companies above don't make the drives, they just re-package drives made by someone else, into their own packaging and sell it.Originally Posted by mwp1976
Sometimes you get a lite-on which is usually preferred for certain reasons.
Interesting, I've heard stories of people painting their bezels but they dont turn out well, from what I've heard....
I'm kind of too lazy to get into manual labor for that. But if you notice on NewEgg, the Black bezels only cost roughly 3 or 5 bucks more than the normal beige colors... But yeah, autobody paint, i'll think about that one, but sand... light sand... how do you do light sand?
The thing with my case is that I have an overall black case with a window, but I have silver paneling. For the removable faces where the drives are suppose to go, they are silver...
Here are some pics I took a while back...

Yeah and I did the thundercats thing on my own... kinda ghetto but it adds a cool twist when the lights are going! =D

damn, without the cd rom, it will look soooooooo much better...oh yeah, if it's all clear instead of just a cutout...:-P
If your left leg is Thanksgiving and your right leg is Christmas, can I meet you in between the holidays?
what is "Lite-Ons" means?
Update:
Officemax is now also selling the Cendyne 52x24x52 drive for $29 as well. You can find it by searching for cendyne or 20214313 as the part number. For some strange reason, they've jacked the dvd drive back up from 29 to 79.99 and I don't know why, since it's not like next week the rebates on it or the warranty is gonna be any good<G>
There are well over 12 different ones to choose from now.. Seem like they are emptying the warehouse..
Does anyone know if there is a 60x burner coming out soon ?
