    I've been to two OfficeMax stores so far today. One had no Western Digital drives at all, and one had a poor selection, the largest of which was 120GB.

    Also, it is NOT a 50% off sale. It is an UP to 50% off sale, which means most of them are less discounted. The 80GB internal was 49.99 (originally 69.99), the 120GB external was 67.99 (originally 129.99), at least at the store I found them at.

    If you have one close by, and need a lower capacity drive, by all means check it out. But since you can buy a 250GB drive, external or internal, for less than $100 online, proceed with caution. Just because it is on sale doesn't mean it is good value.

    I checked a local OfficeMax during lunch. They had WD drives (both on the shelf in the technology department, and on a clearance table in the front of the store) and they were on clearance, but the prices are roughly twice what are stated here.

    Now I could have a wacky OfficeMax, or it could be up to each OfficeMax to set their own prices and discount schedules, but it would seem that one's actual mileage may vary.

    May as well go over to Outpost.com instead and get your choice of a SATA or PATA 200Gb Maxtor for $49 with free express shipping. I got one last week and it was on my doorstop in 2 days.

    Link Here

    However I'm heading out in a few minutes and will pop into OM to check out these WD's.

    Stopped at a different OfficeMax on the way Home. They had a sign that said "All Western Digital Hard Drives 50% off" on the shelf. They had 200GB drives for $50, 250GB for $55, and 320GB for $75. I guess I should have taken a few minutes to have one scanned at lunch time.

    250GB $120

    Thumbs down

    In Louisville, KY. it is even worse. The local Officemax on the east side of town has only;

    200 Gb - $120
    250 Gb - $125
    320 Gb - $149

    And these are the prices AFTER the 50% off.

    I double checked with the manager and he confirmed that the prices displayed on the clearance table where the drives are is the price AFTER the 50% off. I told him that these seemed high and he simply said "they are what they are". :thumbs_do
