This is a pretty decent DVD player. I bought one of these when they first came out and it was able to play the majority of video files I put in it including movie trailers and downloaded tv episodes. It will play the video from WMV files but unless they upgraded the firmware, it wont play the sound on WMV video files. My player worked great for about 18 months but then one day just stopped working. I was kinda upset about it but I only paid 79.99 for it and definitely got some good use out of it. At 49.99 (i don't do rebates) that is definitely worth the price.

    Rebates

Far too often in the past I've bought items with intention of getting the great price via rebate and either forgotten to turn in rebate, misplaced reciept, lost envelope in car, or simply procrastinated so long that it became invalid. Now, unless its an instant rebate or one I can fill out very easily and quickly online, I dont bother with them and if the price w/o rebate isnt great by itself.. I dont consider it a deal.

Why get a 642? Thats the old model. New model is 5940 ($55 at walmart) & 5960, $69 at CC, this one has a USB port you can connect a HD & play from it.
