    Been using one of these for about 8 months, runs very warm to the touch with my Maxtor 200GB drive but it doesn't seem to be a problem so far.

    I figure the hotter it feels, the less heat that's still in there, eh? :p

    But yeah, this doesn't include any fans inside or anything like that, and is made of aluminum to dissipate heat.

    I have a small string of external drives, only one of the enclosures actualy has a fan, however none of them have ever died on me in comparison to the 5 internal drives I've lost. I do however use a small fan tower on them when I'm running more than one and just a slight breeze seems to keep them fairly cool. Just a thought, spend about $5 on some crappy fan.. I do that for a lot of my electronics...
