BTW Best Buy Geek Squad FORCES the box open before they give it to you.
That then causes you to incur a restocking fee.

I encourage you to have them open the box just to make sure the machine boots okay and isn't DOA. After that you can have them reseal it and you will not incur a restocking fee.

we only do the 110% price match on Advertised specials .. it has to be on ad! So if you buy the laptop from CCity and get it price adjusted - you only get it price adjust to $599.99 and no %10 off difference. Unless you see it on the ad at Best Buy.

    nevermind .. i didn't know

    Price Guarantee
If you've seen a lower advertised price from another local store with the same item in stock, we want to know about it. Bring it to our attention, and we'll gladly beat their price by 10% of the difference. If you see a lower advertised price (including our own sale prices) within 30 days of your purchase, we'll refund 110% of the difference.

Our policy applies only to advertised prices. It does not apply to special offers or promotions, including rebates, free-with-purchase offers and special financing. Unfortunately, we are not able to provide price matches online, so please visit the closest Circuit City store to take advantage of our Price Guarantee.

I'm not sure who told you that but my Best Buy (3 laptops bought) opens every laptop box. They have a sticker on the outside saying

'This is a new laptop, it was opened by the Geek Squad and tested to make sure it is in full operational condition'

    Or something like that.

    Best buy and its policies

I would advise to buy it now and don't open the box. Here is the thing: when they do advertise that computer for that low price, most stores will only carry a few of them and they will be sold out the moment the store opens at 9AM.
Then it will be out of stock for 1 week and since they don't give rain checks, you will be out of luck.
Also, Best Buy's 100% low price guarantee is sh**ty and deceptive.
In order to get that guarantee, the product you found for cheaper at another store:
    A) must be in stock when they call the competing store.
    B) rebates and instant rebates do not count towards the lower price. They
take the advertised price only. For example, if Circuit City has that same
    computer for $100 ($800 price - $100 instant rebate - $600 rebates),
then best buy will not price match because the price of the computer is
$800 at circuit city and theirs will be $599
    C) You must buy the computer in the store itself and not on the internet.
Remember that. Buy it in the brick and mortar store, then when it comes
on sale, you will be able to do the price match plust 10% extra. If you
buy the computer online from Best Buy, they won't give you the 110%
    low price guarantee.

When I bought my toshiba laptop from best buy, the geek squad did not open the box. They are NOT supposed to open the box unless you have requested them to do so (meaning, you want them to install more ram or a video graphics card or install software, etc). If they present it to you opened with that geek squad sticker saying they tested it and it works, that computer was returned to the store by a customer (maybe it was not the right computer for them and they decided they didn't want it anymore). So, the geek squad checks it out and then resells it.
If they try to pull that on you, tell them that you want another UNOPENED box. Does the geek sqad open every hard drive or RAM memory and check them for functionality?? Nope. The only person who can open the box is the customer who bought the item.

I have done a similar PM thing with an HP desktop from CC for $180 AR. I did buy it in advance. If a deal as good as this by the time the sale kicks these items are all OOS.
