    catch in the $40 form

"Customers that file electronically and via mail in form will disqualify both rebate requests."

    Just cautioning.

It means don't file electronically for the $40 rebate and then send in the $40 rebate form to Kapersky as well. They'll simply invalidate the $40 rebate, not the $60 rebate. The 'both rebate requests' would be the attempt to send two $40 rebates in...thus subjecting yourself to mail fraud.

This deal seems almost too good to be true. Does the upgrade rebate have to be on a program that is current in its subscription? I looked at the rebate form, but it seemed like it just asked for minimal information...

Also, here is a link from PC World (Jan 25, 2006) with a top-ten antivirus software list. Kaspersky 5.0 was #3 behind Bitdefender and McAfee. Pretty impressive...

Exclamation Beware: "Not to be combined with any other offer"

If you read the fine print on the $60 rebate, it says "Not to be combined with any other offer". The way I read that, you can't use both rebates. Of course, you could always try, but don't count on it.

well, the CUSA pickup printed two rebate forms, one for the $60 and another for $40. Although these are two offers, from what I see, they are mutually exclusive, meaning you are not getting a rebate for the same thing twice, one is for new purchase, another for upgrade. My question is, how do you send the proof of previous ownership when you file electronically coz it didn't ask me any.

    Here's an update...

The easiest and cheapest thing to do is file on erebates.compusa.com. If you've done so, you must provide more information to qualify for the $40 rebate. Problem is, you can't fill this information out online. I called the customer service number (888-716-8555, open Monday through Friday 8:00AM - 7:30PM EST) and told the CSR that I was unable to file my "proof of prior virus software". She looked up the rebate, asked me for my information, and fixed it over the phone.

Both rebates are now pending (in a holding pattern for 21 days to prevent me from returning the software AND collecting on the rebate). Fair enough!

CompUSA erebates have always been very prompt for me, so I am going ahead with the install.

    Update #2...

For those of you who jumped on this "too good to be true" deal, that appears to have been the case. I just went to erebates.compusa.com to input another rebate and saw that my $40 upgrade rebate was gone. Warning bells began to go off, and, sure enough, after a little bit of research I discovered that CompUSA had cancelled the $40 rebate citing exactly what Tedzzzz warned us of...

Still, when I called back in mid-November, the CSR assured me both rebates were valid. Other people, apparently, have similar stories. I only wish I had a screen save of the CompUSA page that clearly shows the total as -$40.01...

I will call them on the 26th, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

    FYI.

At least it was FAR... oh well, Merry Christmas anyway!!!

    Upgrade Rebate Cancelled

Just like Indomie, my upgrade rebate ($40) was cancelled as well. It just disappeared from my CompUSA erebates page. It still turns out to be free (plus tax), but no profit involved!
