i cant really think of any band names but pretty much all eighties pop music is upbeat and fun thats what i would listen to if i had the motivation to work out

and jmb you need to move tool to the top of your list because they are the greatest band ever

Although I agree that they are one of the best bands ever, nothing can beat the originality and anger Rage Against Machine rage had when they came out. Audioslave just can't compare to the original members of Rage. But Tool is an awesome band and very original also, especially their weird music videos, although their newest effort, 10000 days, was a little bit of a letdown.

nah rage had a weird political drive behind them but dont get me wrong i love them too just not as much. you are right though about audioslave, everyone expected more from the merging of two incredible bands like soundgarden and rage.

    Ok two things:

    1. BD thats is just scary, I hope you were not the lead singer for your band, or the keyboardist for that matter. I know it was you don't deny it:rolleyes:

    2. I know the political drive of rage was a bit much but that's why they were pissed off all the time. Every band has their flaws, the lead singer for tool is a satanist, at least that's what I have always been told.

i dont think hes a satanist i think hes atheist and im pretty sure hes gay but i dont have a clue what hes singing about the majority of the time i just like it and with rage their lyrics were a bit more straight forward.

but anyway that song big daddy posted rocks!!!!!!anyone know where i can pick up that cd?

This is the kind of thread I always end up discovering new music from.... it's the best thing about the "long tail" and music.... before u had to read in a magazine or hunt around in a record store to find something cool -- which made the choices always subject to the "gatekeeping" of editors and music store buyers and etc... -- which would lead inevitably to mediocrity and the prevalence of "poser music" -- i.e. stuff that you want to like because you think it's cool, not because you really like it. Music journalism especially creates high-profiles for really lame stuff, because journalists are always looking behind their backs, trying to profile something that they think in 2 years people will think they were cool for liking "way back when".... I GREATLY prefer the democratic nature of threads like these, where people simply list their tastes and you can just look something up on itunes or youtube and check it out for yourself....

These days I'm really into techno and techno/rock and stuff like that -- try searching for these songs:

Thomas Falke "Revolution On The Dance Floor"
    Groove Cutter "My Shooter"
Control One "Just A Little Bit"
    Ian Carey "Redlight"
    Kevin Weg "Dead Radio"

I don't usually go for techno but these are sort of like a wierd crossover between rock and techno/trance. :convinced:

I'd go for Go Betty Go, Evanescence, Linkin Park, Green Day, Kelly Clarkson, Jimmy Eat World...
If you want something lighter, you can always go for Gwen Stefani or Cyndi Lauper for some good rythms

What about black eyed peas' album "monkey business?"

It's upbeat and it keeps me awake and going. I use it when I drive, study, and walking around, getting to my destinations.

Whatever you do, be sure to buy your songs from www.gomusic.ru. They are free of DRM restrictions!

I'm thinking some of the Monkees songs. There are also a slew of good songs here too. Link

Here are a few suggestions.. im linking to youtube so you can listen to them without having to find and download them.

I can guarantee that you will not like some (most?) of these. I did the best I could without knowing your musical tastes better. I added them as I saw them so if you don't like a few early ones make sure to still check out the later ones.

If by chance you (or anyone) does like the majority, or a specific song, feel free to PM me or post here and I can tailor a list based around that song or group.

Lastly, if you don't mind techno or electro, that broad genre can be one of the best to work out to because of the upbeat-ness and high tempo.

Jack's Mannequin - Meet me at my window

    Breaking Benjamin - Skin

Red Jumpsuit Apparatus - Face Down

Estelle ft Kanye - American Boy

Good Charlotte - Dance Floor Anthem

Boys Like Girls - 5 Minutes to Midnight

    Cartel - Say Anything (Else)

    Pink - U + Ur Hand

Rihanna - Don't Stop the Music

    The Fratellis - FlatHead

Thrice - The Artist in the Ambulance

    Trapt - Still Frame

Three Days Grace - Animal I Have Become

The Used - Pretty Handsome Awkward

The Almost - Say This Sooner

Story of the Year - The Antidote

Rise Against - Ready to Fall

October Fall - Caught in the Rain

Motion City Soundtrack - It Had to be You -- This is one of my all time favorite music videos

    Sneaky Sound System - Pictures

Amber Pacific - Gone So Young

:convinced: I have a very strange mix of music on my mp3's.
They greatest thing to do though, is go to the library and download all the c.d.'s they have that you like.
I sometimes take a laptop with me, and that way-I don't even have to check them out.
If I want something and they don't have it,
;) I can go on line through the libraries website and put a "hold" on something.
Another library will send it to my library and then they email when I can come in and pick it up at my library! :p

    Thanks for the list, jl514!
My taste in music is all over the place. I like everything, but country and hard core rap.
Lately I have been listening to disco at the gym, oh and lots of techno.
Rihanna - Don't Stop the Music.....my favorite song at the moment.
Three Days Grace - Animal I Have Become.....I was wondering who this was.
    Thanks!!
