I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS ALREADY SOLD OUT! I didn't want one, especially at that price! But it freaks me out that something this expensive could SELL OUT!

I guess in a couple of years the hottest Christmas gifts for kids will start at $1000.

I think it's mainly because many people have no willingness to wait for the price to come down. It's new and they have to have it now.

I think its very surprising too. I wonder if kids ARE that assertive on their parents, or its "some" of the parents themselves who are so much into it that they can't wait a little while.

I read that Nintendo is going to ship 4 million Wii consoles by year end, so there shdn't be any major shortage for Wii once it is released. As for PS3, Sony does have some manufacturing delays due to problems with the blue-diode used in the PS3, but they shd have plenty available in a couple of months.

Unless you are located VERY remotely and can't get to a retailer, I wouldn't want to pay those kind of prices.

Well, the PS3 has another problem, it doesn't play the PS2 and PS games well.

But in defense of the high prices, I saw MAdden 2007 for the PS3 on G4TV, and it looked amazing. The graphics and sounds, I would pay $600 for that anyday.

I have a vintage super nintendo with all the yoshi and mario games. I love to play it and don't bother with my kids PS2's or Gamecube

My kids act like they are going to die if they don't get a PS3 or Nintendo Wii. I already told them that I will buy it in about 2 or 3 yrs. When they are coming out with something else and they lower the price.

If you wait 2-3 years then you will be ripped off. Now-a-days its all about online gaming. If you wait till something new is out then most other people will switch to the new console and it will be very hard to find someone to game with. Not to mention then your kids will be nagging you for the next system.

The best time to buy is about 6mo-1yr after launch when the consoles are still relatively new but the original surge dies off. Manufacturers then either bundle in a free game and/or knock off a huge chunk of the price. And since it will still be somewhat new, your kids will be able to play with all their friends.

Just remember its always better to pay $150 for something that has utility than pay $100 for something that will gather dust.

Are you kidding, my kids are only 10 and 7. No way would I pay that much for a game console. I broke down a couple years ago and got a PS2 for 120+, a refurbished one at EBGames. My kids don't do any online gaming yet. I don't think that PS3 or the Wii will be sitting around collecting dust if I chose to buy in 3 yrs.

I think people have different reasons for wanting know or waiting awhile.
