this looks like a good deal, although I don't know about the reputation of eMachines. I haven't heard anything from them in the longest time. i thought that was going to be discontinued soon
I had bought one about 6 years ago when I was new in business from a Costco (primarily for the inexpensive price).
The only real thing I ever didn't like about it was that it could fit such a small amount of memory.
Other than that it has been (and to this day still is) a quality, reliable computer that has not failed me.
There are compaq computers that circuit city has or similar deals in this same range.
I picked up a labor day only special for a compaq for $180 ( and I did get my rebates).
That computer has worked just fine so far.
You just have to look around for the $200-$275 range everyday type desktops. They're out there...
Douglas Fir :claps:
A few years ago I got a great deal on a desktop from Aldi and I am still using it today. It's a Medion and was way ahead of its time for the specs I got at the time. I got it for $799 and Dell and HP were charging 2x that much.
eMachines get a lot of good reviews.
My two year old e-machines is working fine. The fan is a bit loud compared to other desktops. I never did receive my e-machines corporate rebate however. I even followed up with their Minnesota corporate office and was basically told to go fly a kite...![]()
Yesterday it was only in store pick up and most of the stores were out. Let's see if they actually ship one to me.
$250 is a great price for a P4.
Gateway bought emachines.....
For $120 more (after rebates), you can get the eMachines t5212 which is the same as the t5048, but instead gives you a PentiumD 805 (dual core), 1gb of ram, and a 200gb HD. Sure, it's more money overall, but I think it's a better value. I went in to CompUSA originally for the $249.99 computer, but ended up getting the t5212.
