One particular Best Buy in north-eastern new york has 24 units availible for this, and they are a pretty small best buy compared to others. i think most best buy's will have a good amount of units. More than the minimun 15 per store the flyer advertised.

Considering the wii is still going for hundreds of dollars over MSRP on ebay, I'd say cross your fingers at being one of the 10-25 people per store who end up with a wii. Also think about how many wii's will be sucked up from employees before the public has a chance to get them...

I concur... they are still going for a premium on eBay and craigslist... in other words, if you show up when the store opens, you probably still won't get one...
Always looking for a good deal...

MSRP is $250. ebay is showing most of the actually completed auctions are around $350. I think the ones you see as "going for hundreds of dollars over MSRP" are the auctions that nobody actually bids on, since supply has begun catching up to demand.

Anyone who buys one of these should check the straps -- you may still get one of the original straps. Even though the stories of wiimote damage sounded mostly contrived, since Nintendo is providing the beefier straps for free, you may as well sign up for one. Here is a link to the strap replacement page at nintendo.com.

If my wife had her way, you could buy mine for less-than-retail price. Good thing I wear the pants around here.

Nintendo is keeping mum about a next-generation strap, code-named 'Oui', French for "Yes", that will also include a roll-tracking ball. The ball is designed to keep the strap more securely around the wrists, but beta-testers at Nintendo report some difficulty with using the strap.

Nine-year old tester Jakey said in between tears, "My Oui-Wii ball fell off and I lost my Oui-Wii."

Eleven-year old tester Mikey echoed, "My Oui-Wii ball is too tight. How am I supposed to get my Oui-Wii off?"

Early reports are not good, but keep an eye out for Nintendo to make something special with its Oui-Wii. This is spazntwitch, signing off on Spoofee News.
