Racism deal more with feelings of "lack and fear" than over a profound sense of superiority. As such, one can argue that racism began with evolution across the species. Racism in humans came to the forefront when geographical boundaries were breeched, cultures were mixed, and, the class structure was designed. A sad reality that is not going away. Get rid of slavery in ancient Egypt, and, it is established in Rome! Get rid of slavery here in the USA, and, Hitler devises white supremacy within the German race. Humans always seem to torture one another on one level, or another. :(

Slavery I dont think has anything to do with racism, in as much as it wasnt a product of racism. Europeans and Americans, etc bought slaves from Africa and other places, they didnt only go around and steal them. I think racism came into it after slavery started. Even after it was abolished. Once it was abolished people likely 'hated' blacks just because they felt superior to them because they had once been slaves. I think that feeling evolved into the more simple form of racism that we know today that is based almost purely on skin color.

Thats just my opinion.. But I still dont know when it started. I assume that its probably been with us since we were first able to tell a rival tribe from our own, and felt the need to defend our food and territory.

i think that saying some acts 'black' is racist
because its putting a label on black peoples actions
not all black people act that way so its demeaning to them
    anyone agree?

I agree in part. I dont agree that its demeaning. We arent telling them to do work which is obviously beneath them, we arent objectifying them, we arent berating them, etc. Its not demeaning to blacks, its prejudicial of blacks.

Why not just tell them what you actually think instead of what someone else thinks?

Shani, I'm not exactly sure what you are asking.

Regarding our evolutionary instincts to propagate our own genepools, I think the second that humans felt that the the good resources were limited (and survival might depend on competing for them), we got racism. Just my opinion, but I'd say supply economics == us vs. them.

I am an "Equal Opportunity Hater" meaning if you are a dumb ass, wanting a constant handout, and, bellyaching over stuff that happened generations ago, then, I will get ticky with you! I am sick and tired of the political ploys of these politicians running to all black communities and handing out free this and free that! Help folks get a good education, job training, and, health care and then let them take care of themselves no matter their color or heritage. White people are now the minority. Our white students can't even get financial aid anymore! If you are Hispanic woman, you're a shoe in for financial aid! Handicapped, money is there too for you to get an education. Black well, there are pages of aid. If you are white, and, a male.....might as well forget it! These young men have to rely on the private sector. Tell you what Oprah is not going to give our white young men any help! And Asian males are next in line for not getting enough financial educational assistance! I guess what turns my stomach is that blacks just "expect it" or "demand it" and our white politicians fork it over to them. BE EQUAL BE FAIR!!

we tend to be racist (discriminative) at a certain level. So if it's not about race, it might be about country, region, village, etc

Good point. There's a school of philosophy (cant remember if its existentialism, nihilism, or what) that says that everyone is prejudiced. For instance, the way we choose describe things... If someone asked you to describe a podium and you said it was brown and four feet tall, with a microphone on it they would say that youre prejudiced against shelves for not saying it had shelves and prejudiced against wood for not saying it was made of wood, etc. Of course that is an extreme example, but its indicative of that school of thought.
