Question iPod/Mp3 Gurus - need suggestions

I am thinking of getting a new ipod [or any mp3 player]. Need some suggestions from all those ipod/mp3 gurus/pros. Here are the features I am looking for. [I am a rookie in this arena, so I maybe naive in listing my requirements. Please dont pick on me:-)]

    - features I am interested in: minimum 20gb, should be able to select play-list from a single folder or from the entire drive, should have shuffle feature [within the same folder or within the entire drive], should be able to restart from where it stopped last time when it was turned off, others like long-life reachargeable battery, playable in my Odyssey [has RCA input] etc. etc. Please list any other tips/suggestions/features that I need to look for when purchasing one.

    - suggestions : best price to pay for a 20gb, best place to buy [either online or in-store], which ipod to buy [4th, 5th, nth gen, mini/shuffle/nano/] or any other mp3 player that has better features than ipod.

    - Hopefully this thread is useful for others like me.

    Thanks very much

I have a dell 30gb, it is pretty basic, but does all that you wanted it to do. plus you can probably find a coupon and get it for real cheap.

If you don't want to spend "ipod money", I have one of these http://www.digmind.com/store/index_500.html. They also have a new model http://www.digmind.com/store/index_8280.html. I'm pretty sure they both have all the features you're looking for and more.

I have a creative 30 gb, that pretty much does what you want and I paid about $230.00, much less than an iPod of comparable hd size. I have used about about 20-21 gigs of that memory using only my cd's, nearly 300, with the tracks ripped at 192 kbs. My battery will last my regular work shift, 8 hours, and then some, without being powered off, even when not in use. :claps: :claps:

just found this deal you might be interested in
    http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?inv...O-_-RUBATOmain
it's 149 and if you enter the code RUBATO in the promo code section of checkout, you get another 20 off, which makes it 129 for a 20GB player, plus ground shipping is free... that's pretty darn cheap from what i've seen

i have an archos jukebox portable player with 20 GB hard drive.
here are the + points i can think of on the top of my head.
    - cheap
    - no software for transferring songs, just drag and drop to anywhere on the drive
    - i use it almost as much as a portable USB hardrive
    - superlongalicious battery life both with or without use
    - installed the new opensource OS (operating system) called rockbox, and it increased it functionality ten times (more games, more features, more functions, better music management etc).
    - good sound reproduction
    - has a voice recorder
    - audio input jack to record directly to hard drive

i can think of these for now will write more as and when i think of some
