Ad News - Costco Return Policy Changed

Costco use to have a very lenient return policy where you can return products anytime - Link to previous deal thread

Costco has officially announced an update to their return policy.

According to the Costco Website (and confirmed by phone):

"Merchandise: We guarantee your satisfaction on every product we sell, with a full refund. Exceptions: Televisions, computers, cameras, camcorders, iPOD / MP3 players and cellular phones must be returned within 90 days of purchase for a refund." - Link

This goes into effect as of February 26, 2007 in California but I am unsure of the date outside of CA. All purchases made before this date fall under the old policy (unlimited at manager's discretion) with an original receipt.

In place of this, Costco is now extending the manufacturer's warranty on the above exclusions to 2 years.

    Boo!
I love the policy that they had (or may still have here in Jersey). I would often pay a bit more at Costco than I would in other places so I could have the security of knowing that my purchases could be returned. I suppose I won't buy them at Costco any longer.

Good riddance! The return policy was nice, but too many people took advantage of it. I have a friend who works at Costco and he said people returned pizzas with one or two slices left because they were "not satisfied with the product."

Although I agree its ludicrous to return a 3/4 eaten pizza, their policy on food remains unchanged.

However, when it comes to food you really can't beat the 200% Guarantee offered by SAM's club. See the details here.

The refrigerated food policy is that they aren't supposed to take it back because they MUST throw it out. We had a party and I bought too many bags of salad, kept them refrigerated the whole time but the girl at the return desk (who did accept them even though she said she wasn't supposed to) sagely said, "how do we know if you really kept it refrigerated?" She said they would just toss it.

Good change in policy, after I heard about some a-hole returning a PS1 when PS2 came out, then returning that PS2 when Xbox360 Came out, and probably gonna return that when PS3 comes to Costco, but now he can't, I hope they defend themselves from obvious abuse by customers, so down with stupid people that return 7/8 eaten food and couches they've used for one night parties.

    Microoven is still returnable. Right?
My microoven broke and it has been about 2 years since I bought it. :(

Do I need original package to return it?
I still have the box (worned out) but nothing else.

If I don't even need original box, how do they know which product it is without UPC code ?
