Suckered!

The catch is... I just got suckered. Per the rebate form, the rebate offer ends 12/31/06. I just realized it and canceled my order. I also requested that they remove my account.

Huh? You've got nine and a half months before it expires.

Duh. :( It's Friday. My bad. I'll go hang my head in shame.

Isnt it Monday when people blame the day for silly errors?

I thought I missed something. I was thinking, "its till '06.. but maybe I missed something." I had to actually think and verify, "ok, yeah, it is 2006."

LOL Relax and a have a :beer_yum: Happy green day!

Sure its a hassle, but no more so than ony other rebate, IMO.

Well, it only took a week, but they said they shipped it. The free shipping option said 7-9 days, I thought that was the travel time, not the time it takes to get it shipped. I reckonthat's what I get for a free usb drive, with the free shipping option.

I got my drive in the main yesterday. Well, nothing special. A USB drive in a generic packaging. I do like the color, it's my favorite color scheme, silver and black.

I signed up for the Privacy Deal. I haven't checked the site out FULLY, but it appears I still have to purchase additional services like my credit report and crap. Finding the number to call and cancel the service was burried in the terms and conditions, and as of this posting I have not received the email containing the $30 rebate. Knowing what I know now, I would have just spent $22 bucks, and gotten twice the capacity, without the hassle.

Well, I got my drive in 3 days, signed up for my '30 day free trial' and then email and tell you you'll get an email with some code, and I would get a Welcome email in 24-48hrs and then the rebate form to fill out in 48-72hrs.. I also filled out and signed up for a credit report which was 0.00 .. some things you put in your 'cart' cost extra.

Well, a week goes by and nothing.. So I use their customer service, which is very prompt, but after 2 days of run around I get to someone saying they are snail-mailing me my rebate form which will arrive in 4-6 weeks.. I'm like 'what the F' ... so I email them again and just say to email me the email with the link to the form that was mentioned in the original email, and they said they can't.. They said I signed up on 3/30 and the emails were sent on 4/03 which is total bs cuz I definitely did not get the emails from them, and no they didn't get put into a junk bin or anything.. So far this thing seems like a scam, looks like so far they are at least going to string you along at $13 a month to get the rebate, and then even then who knows if they are even going to fill any rebates..

Anyway this sucks, right now I'm waiting to see the next email or so from their customer service, but right now my plan seems to be to cancel this a week before I purchased it because I forsee hassles in trying to cancel the service to not be rebilled 12.95.. So looking at returning it to buy.com as well before the 30days is up..

Oh well,..

Norm (and others who signed up for this deal) -

I signed up last week and was very worried by your post about the apparent rebate scam. Therefore, I was very relieved to get the link to the $30 rebate this morning. If you haven't sent your privacy drive back in to buy.com yet, you can get your rebate here:

http://www.ecustservice.com/premiums/privacygrd/30tranr/

Just print it out & send with your buy.com receipt...

Hope that helps! As a longtime Spoofee lurker, it gives me great pleasure to possibly give something back to the community. :D

Too bad I just read this thread after reciving my coupon. Thanks for the coupon! Turns out it wasn't privacyguard/buy.com, it was my wife who was hiding my mail. Apparently me telling her I am missing important mail, cursing the company "PRIVACYGUARD", the Post Office, and the $30 dollar rebate, did not ring any bells until last night she said "you keep getting this letter about a $30 rebate from Privacy guard". D'OH!

Worst of all? I'm late in canceling my subscription because I wanted to make sure I got the friggin rebate... so there goes $15 bucks!

We are both bad about rebates. She sat on our $500 rebate for our dishwasher from Home Depot... and I also lost $500 on our cell phones from letstalk.com... we are suckers for not filling out rebates.
