    FYI. What I found out about these Maxell's:

    If they are made in Taiwan = JUNK
    If they are made in Japan = GOOD

    You can look at the spindle where they were made. The deal at CC last week ended up being Taiwan CD-R's at the store.
    They used different dye's for the production so yes they are different.

    I hope this helps in your decision.
