    Nintendo Wii question

For the past month when Amber or I go to play a game we get this message: "An error has occurred. Press the Eject Button, remove the Game Disc, and turn the power off. Please read the Wii Operations Manual for more information." (My dog ate the manual btw)
We get the message even if we left the game in the machine and came back to it a few hours later.
We've had the system for a little over a year now.
Anybody else have problems like this? It is not majorly important, but it is a pain in the butt. Plus I don't want a bigger problem arising because I didn't fix it before.
I only ask if anyone else is having a problem because I HATE dealing w/ customer support or having to deal w/ the pain of sending it back to the warehouse.
    Thanks in advance!!

Eric's Wii he purchased around Christmas time was doing the same thing. Then a few days later it stopped and has not done it again. We were going to return it to the store but at the time they were sold out everywhere so we just decided to wait and see. We were playing rental games that had a few scratches on them, figured that might have been the problem.

We got a wii for Christmas and after one day, stopped working. Kept shutting off when you turned it on. It was defective and they wanted to replace it with a refurbished one! We fought them and demanded it be replaced with a new one.

They sent us a new one (no box) and we returned the old one. Not sure of the warranty length but you may be SOL. A friend of ours had to pay $99 to get theirs fixed because it had just gone beyond the warranty.

    Good luck.

Choo, call them and complain. Get it documented and make them send you another one. The main company has them in stock.

I heard last month from the guys at the game store that a new model of the Wii is already in the makes. Can't remember when they said..it wasn't real soon but not that far away eigther. Wonder if these issues are why.

If you got it last Christmas 2006, and activated the warranty online, there should be an extended warranty in effect. I know ours has an extended warranty through Nintendo.

I would call C.S. even though it's a hassle. If you have only had it for a year, even if you had to pay $100 to get it fixed it would be worth it.

The same thing happened to us with our Xbox. We bought one for Christmas and starting getting internal error messages two weeks after we bought it. I called Microsoft and they wanted us to send back the defective one to refurbish instead of sending a new one. I sent it back to Amazon last week and they sent us a new one.

Is your disk dirty? Clean it with some water & pat dry. Just any type of dvd reader does that with dirty disks.

Also disconnect the power cord & plug it back in as this resets it & it may work better.

I use enelope batteries in my Wii & they last forever, havent even changed them yet.

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. If it was face to face it wouldn't be such a problem, but I hate doing the phone thing. While I love accents, it seems I always get the person who just learned English. :34:

Unfortunately it's not an overheating issue. I would get the error message as soon as I turned it on.
