What can I say - kids & computers don't mix.

Three kids - three "I don't knows" - three "Not mes" and every time you open AIM it launches the Click here for the picture virus.

I looked around and found about 12 million suggestions and removal fixes.

This computer has been running McAfee (grrrh), I installed AVG (found some ones McAfee didn't find), ran spybot & lavasoft, plus the throw-in from Comcast!

I am looking for a "click this link" fix.

It seems to me spyware, so I would think spybot would have fixed it.

hmm... on AIM, the messages are often sent from friends who have viruses on their computers themselves. So if they are getting really annoying, you might want to try deleting that friend from that buddy list. ???

I think, but those pop ups unrelated to AIM are definately spybot. You can try www.download.com for other solutions.

I personally have a Mac and have been away from PC's for 6 months (except for the laptop i just bought ) so I am loving the virus-free life!

Yeah, if you're getting IMs that say to click something, it isn't your virus, it's that someone is targetting you and trying to infect your machine with it. If it's all from one screenname, block them. Otherwise, you might want to just change your name.

If it's not in an IM, could you screencap it? More information would help.

EDIT: Also, what about Myspace? I notice you mentioned it in the subject line but didn't elaborate.

the virus is specific when launching AIM - once the buddy lists loads, the virus launches to send all your buddies an IM that says to click on "this link" to add (or see) a picture on My space.

If you click the link - it adds the virus to your computer (and lives on)

Hmm...it sounds like maybe it could've altered your AIM program, if there's no virus detected on your machine. Try uninstalling and reinstalling it (or maybe an alternative messaging client that supports AIM where you can still use your screenname - I've used Trillian for years, I recommend it).

Do you have Windows XP? If so, have you tried doing a system retore to an eariler time?

I would re-install windows (if that is what you use) if the system restore doesn't work. I don't think it will because all it does is restores your system in case of a crash, not in case of invasion. I would also suggest getting rid of mcafee. And aol for that matter.

Try going to http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ and running their free anti-virus and anti-spyware scan. It should help you out.

Thanks to spazntwitch (and all the other suggestions).:bigok:

I did this trendmicro install, it found some trojans (and other stuff), but when I clicked to remove, the program informed me that it could not be done automatically (and didn't have a manual fix either). But no worries because whatever it didn't do - it magically fixed the virus.

I got it book marked as well as the panda link.
