I think BD and HD are fighting for Warner Home Video, and a big feature for Warner is who controls the high def home video market. Blu-ray is having blowout sales to run up the numbers and show that it dominates more than the 2-1 sales to HD-DVD today, so I think HD-DVD is just trying to catch up. There is an intersting trail at Engadget.
