Good to use for Christmas time.

Amazon.com is offering their Amazon Prime service for a year for $59. Usually it's $79

Amazon Prime will give you
- free two-day shipping on almost anything sold by Amazon.com
- overnight shipping can be had for $3.99 per item

It says "Amazon Prime costs $79 a year" at the bottom of that page. So maybe this isn't correct?

Thanks, just signed up. Hopefully I get my use out of it.

Spoofee, this deal isn't expired yet if you use that second link by dancheng.

is this a deal?

most of the time I choose the free shipping option and get my items withing a week. I guess if you buy things every other week or you buy larger items that don't qualify for free shipping, it might be worth it. But $59? Call me cheapgreed:

This seems like a big waste of money. Unless you shop from amazon quite a bit...

Whole idea of Amazon prime is the fast shipping, no need to have a particular amount for free shipping, and can get one-day shipping for $3.99.

The sad part is since Amazon discontinued their post-order price guarantee, it is no longer the value it was before. They will likely be losing Prime members for that alone.

I'm on my second year with Prime and delighted to have it. The fast delivery is great, and I find Amazon's prices competitive enough that I seldom shop on other sites... unless I get a Spoofee tip. I buy lots of single, small items for which I would otherwise have to pay shipping each time. My only disappointment is the number of items sold on Amazon by third-party sellers and not eligible for Prime.

the deal gets better if somebody in your family wants to split it with you. prime allows you to share it with members of your family (up to 5 total)
