While I personally think we should lend a helping hand to those in need, would someone please explain to me what the hell happened to the old adage of "Charity begins at home?!?!??!" Should not America be tending to AMERICANS and their needs first and foremost? There are so many issues here at home that need "fixing" that I shudder to think of a list! For me personally, I would start off with children's issues, education, health care, and, the environment. Toss in energy needs, the war in Iraq, affordable housing and that should keep those bloodsuckers in Congress busy for a long time!

So Spoofee folks, should we in America honker on down and concentrate on OUR NEEDS for a change, or should be just continue to babysit the world and get our faces spit into?!?!

This rant brought to you by ole Rags who hates to see kids neglected, money wasted, and, the USA treated like crap by nations who don't even have TOILETS! :mmph: This foul mood of mine started with a stale candy bar, and, Jeb eating another chair leg this morning! Time for a vacation!

Rags I agree with you 100%.:bigok: Being a Marines wife(former Marine)I am sick already of the war that is going on.Bring our men and women home...NOW.This has gone on long enough...and I think its a shame the Iraqi's cannot fend for themselves. Why must our men and women in uniform take care of a foreign country when they hate us anyway? This is my own personal thoughts. :mmph: :verysad:

I think we should arm both sides to the teeth and give them 6-8 months to wipe each other out. Then we clean up the remnants, take posession of the country, and suck ALL the oil out of it. Then we give it to the 'Palestinians" for a homeland.
Problem(s) solved.

I just saw this thread.. Wanna know what ticks me? All these celebrities running to other countries to adopt children. I'm all for adoption, but don't we have enough children here who need loving homes?

Absolutely! That's exactly what I said here

Yeppers you are soooooooooo right on this one! But you see for the celebrities, it is not "as exciting" to give one of our American children a home! You have to travel around the world with the press agents, the media, whoever, make a big to do, get your face plastered on the mags, and have people say "Look at that saint of a woman/man!" Phooey...just spend one day in a clinic and see our kids here in the states with no homes. It will change your life forever! One bark I do have about adoption HERE in the states (and I speak from personal experience) is all the red tape you have to go through to get the kids. For the most part when you adopt overseas, while it takes longer, and, more money to accomplish, it is a done deal. Over in Washington D.C. on a tv channel or two, they actually feature children available for adoption. So there are kids to go around!

I have a friend who adopted a child from India and is in the process of adopting another. She said it is cheaper to adopt a child overseas. Also I personally would be afraid to adopt a child from the United States. I know that is sad to say but the laws in this country are so screwy I would be afraid of the birth parents coming around and wanting their child back. It has happened. At least overseas like you said it is a done deal.

We've looked into adoption and overseas sometimes is a much cheaper option because you don't have to deal with money-grubbing US attorneys. How sad is that for our US kids.

For the kids, sad. For the parents, pathetic. How awful is it that theyre going for the cheap option. I mean, this is a life! This is a 'forever' commitment, and youre going to go for the cheap ones? Thats just wrong.

I'm not quite sure how to respond to your statement LiveSquid. I agree that it is awful that many people go the cheapest route instead of looking for options here in America, but on the other hand, money not spent paying outrageous attorney fees could be spent with the family instead. (And as you know, the 'extra' money may simply be spent on something that isn't even in the child's interest depending on the family.)

Some people choose to adopt where it is the most affordable to them. It may mean looking over someone closer to home, but at least one child will be adopted.
