April 24-30 is TV turn off week-- is anybody here going to do it? my kids are NOT going to be happy (and i can only imagine todd's reaction), but we are!

there are also so contests they're running, so i printed up the info to give to my kids' teachers.

My kids would have no problem with that at all. Its the husband who would go through the roof. I gave up on that. I've learned not to even think of interfering with his wednesday night world of outlaws races. The weather is good and daylight is longer so my kids are outside as soon as homework is done.

I wish you luck with your adventure in this and hope yours goes better then our attempt at it.

Our T.V is barely on anyway, so we'll just keep on doing our normal thing....

Hah, no problem turning it off for a week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks...whatever.
Now, if I loose my internet connection for over an hour, that's a whole different story....I may go postal, who knows! ;) :o  :zip:

Does All My Children, Desperate Housewives, The Sopranos and the News count?

I agree

I can keep it off for 10 hours easily. That's when we sleep.

Why not just turn off the sound & turn on the close captions? Maybe they can do that in May, Deaf Awareness Month?

I could turn it off on the kids, and they'd deal. But, I would miss AMC and Lost and desperate housewives and Grey's anatomy ...

... maybe I watch too much TV :o

Empowering people to take control of technology and not letting technology take control of them so they can live healthier lives.

You would think with a quote like that they would have you turn off the internet also

But then how would you give them Money ..

I have not watched TV in a couple months (I've even forgotten to think about what's on at night) but the kids do like to watch PBS kids. Once it gets nice out and they can play outside without freezing to death or getting soaked that's when our TV goes off. LOL We loved Grey's Anatomy, CSI and such...but I would much rather spend time with my sweetie who is very busy right now and has little time. Maybe we will get the seasons of Grey's Anatomy on DVD one day.

I will turn my TV off, after I watch my shows.

"I don't watch TV, Cause I am sophisticated"

No your not, You just can't afford cable.

"I dont watch TV"

No you don't, You just spend hours of time on the internet watching videos of people hitting themselves in the groin.

That's different. Hipócritas vão morrer!

We just downgrade are cable service from basic to limited so we're not watching much tv these days anyway. With our budget we had to choose between High Speed internet or Cable TV. High speed won.

I do not think that the Turnoff is a very good idea. As kids can just go over to a friends house and watch T.V. I would like to hear how you people are going to stop that from happening.

Us people are just going to beat our kids into submission and tie them to a tree. :) That should work. My kids shouldn't be exposed to violence on TV!:p

I will answer as one of "you people"...

Mine are only 7 & 5 so they are not going anywhere on there own yet. When they are older, if we all agreed to do something like this I think that they would respect it. :D

My child is only 3 so I don't have to worry about her going to a friends house or anywhere else to watch T.V.
