I bought a Toshiba laptop from Compusa back on 5/29 and have had problems with 2 of the rebates now. I know I sent everything in correctly and now they are saying I didn't send in the upc symbol. The problem I now have is that I throw out all the boxes when I was done sending in the rebates. I made copies of everything and misplaced them!!!! Anyone else having similar problems getting rebates from Compusa or suggustions on how to fix this problem? Thanks

If you have misplaced all of the paper work associated with the rebate then it could be hard to prove you sent in the documentation. One thing you may be able to do is see if you can find someone that still has there box w/ the UPC on it. I'm assuming that the UPC doesn't have a serial number on it. You could also go to CompUSA see if they still have the product and see if they will make a copy of the UPC. If not you can buy the product again, copy the UPC WITHOUT removing it from the box, return it to CompUSA and use that as your proof. The best thing would be to find your paper work.

Call the rebate companies. They'll probably ask you for a copy of your UPC (probably with the assumption that the original UPC got lost in the mail). Be sure to ask them how quickly you have to submit the UPC copy - some rebate companies don't give you a long time to send this to them.

As Kage_ noted, the best thing to do would be to find your paper work. Otherwise you'll need to find a copy the UPC somewhere.

Good luck :)

What an excellant idea and a way to beat them at their own game!! To just buy another one and make a copy and then return it. I have the original receipt yet. They sent me a post card and I just have to send the post card back along with the UPC. I think I'm going to make a folder to save all the copies of rebates I send in. This has been happening more frequently to me in the last six months or so.
