I see some great price on ebay from sellers that are from Europe ans was wondering if there is something I should know before I make any bids. The sellers all have alot of good feedback. Am I going to get stuck on shipping? Anyway thanks alot for any responses.

power supply cld be different based on the country of origin

You also may have to pay a custom's tax on the computer.

This is interesting, if you do buy one, tell us what happens!n :)

Shipping could cost ya.. What's more likely to get you is Customs duties.. Make sure to check with the seller what all the associated fees could be and from where. The only other downside I could see would be the waranties on components possibly not being honored here in the US. Sometimes they're international, sometimes they aren't..

Just out of curriosity, how can a computer from overseas be cheaper then here? Or is it the fact that it's a product that isn't offered/sold in this country?

Yesterday I had this discussion with a former employer. Sometimes a company, say a hard drive maker, will produce a hard drive for use in the US. The same hard drive (by name only) could be available from Canada as well, but the serial number would be different. The difference, besides the s/n, is the fact that the Canadian one uses inferior parts.

When a customer recently came in to get a hard drive replaced by warranty, we ended up calling the manufacturer and they simply stated that since it was for use in a different country, there was absolutely no warranty here from the US. The way the manufacturer notes which drive used good parts was only by the serial number.

Besides that, though, is the fact that our sue-happy consumers ensure that the manufacturers use better parts so we don't have to return them when defective as often.

Buyer beware.

Actually, if an item is being imported to US there is no customs. I have never had to pay for custom taxes on any imported items from eurasia.

Also companies like FUJITSU ships directly from japan. there are few computer companies that are only available overseas, such as
fujitsu, packard bell, acer, samsung, lg

I highly recommend everyone stay as far away as possible from Packard Bell. They used to be in the U.S., but they ended up going bancrupt and had to relocate overseas. Horrible, horrible computers and service. Search the internet for customer complaints against them.
