I have this unit, it works well.

It's especially good for after the power is out and you shut off your computer, take it to the other room and use it for powering lamps. It runs forever. :D

The given coupon # is for $30 off a purchase of $150.

The coupon 62990306 will give the correct discount.

Hmmm...I could actually use some paperclips!!! Maybe I will check eBay and see how much the APS runs on there just out of curiosity. :)

In store purchase only???

I see on the rebate coupon in small print that it says "This product must be purchased In-store only not valid on website purchases." That makes this a bad deal if you buy it on the web. This needs to be pointed out. ... OR did I read the rebate small print wrong?

You did not read far enough! In store only in Alaska and Hawaii.

It sure looks ambiguous - the print is not very clear. I saw the same thing for the hard drive deal, which I eventually didn't get because the store was out of them.

Oh, I had to opt for the "more expensive" paper clips (39 cents!) :)

Well, I had the OD rep read it and even she said store only was Alaska and Hawaii. I got in on the 12 cent clips. Yours must be better! :-) They say it will be delivered tomorrow! Can we send in both rebates?

I had to read that rebate twice as well.

It says:
"This product must be purchased in the Continental US between Sept 26, 2004 and Oct 2, 2004. Rebate coupon must be postmarked by October 16, 2004 and received by October 23, 2004"

then it goes on to say:
"This product must be purchased in-store only not valid on website purchases in Alaska or Hawaii between Oct 3, 2004 and Oct 9, 2004. Rebate coupon must be postmarked by October 23, 2004 and received by October 30, 2004"

So, it looks to me that there are two separate arangements, one for lower 48 and one for AK and HI. Lower 48 is not precluded from buying online.

Poor packaging

I ordered the UPS and the clips (such a deal) and received them yesterday. The dummy who packed the shipping box placed the UPS' box and the paper clip box inside, but with no additional bubble-wrap or other stuffing. So both boxes were able to slide around within the shipping box. One can certainly imagine it wasn't long before the paperclip box got destroyed... I ended up with a big box full of loose clips. Sigh.

Same situation for me. They sell bubble wrap, they should learn to use it. At least my crushed box of paperclips was sealed inside a baggie so they were contained for me. A sixteen Lb. UPS will crush almost anything. If FedEx had been on the ball locally and put it on the right truck, I would have had the UPS about 24 hours after placing the order!

I had the same problem when I ordered a DVD-ROM from OfficeMax. I don't know if it's all the office stores, but I wish they'd learn!

Mine was the same way, but the clips were packed funny. The box for the clips was flat, and the clips were out...but the box and clips were in their own plastic baggie tied at the top!

I got mine in 24 hours, but I sure wish OD would invest in a good scanner so we could read the rebate coupons better!

Was away when mine was delivered (on Thursday). Got back today, Friday, late. I opened my box and thought .... hmmmm .... the paper clips are loose in the delivery box, maybe, the OD people are a bit pi**ed with people ordering paperclips just to make the dollar rquirement and simply poured the clips in the box. It was only after reading some of the above posts that I realized that the severely crushed small piece of cardboard - which I tossed without giving it a second look - in the delivery box WAS the paperclip box!

My package also did not have anything to pad the two items, not even the plastic bag some others got. So I may have lost some clips as the outer box has a large gap that was not covered by the sealing tape!

Way to go Office Depot! :claps:

Y'all might want to take care installing the UPS software. I did on my XP system and it seems to have been what deleted both the boot.ini file and all my "restore points". Can't be certain of course...

Then I find out XP has some power management stuff built in to handle UPS' anyway so didn't need to install it.

:-(

Office Depot is seriously lacking on the customer service side. If at all possible I purchase from Staples, who tend to be more curtious and price match. Of all the office supply companies I must say Staples has handled all if any of my complaints very well compaired to Office Max and Depot. Anytime anyone makes a post for a special I call Staples to see about a price match just to throw the business to the right team. I'm tired of getting rebate rejection cards from depot and max. If I have a complaint although rare Staples will adjust my bill or send me coupons. ;)

I've found that I never need to use the software that comes with the UPSs, since I never leave my system on unattended and always shut it down when I'm done. If power decides to go when I'm using the computer, I have enought time to shut everything down manually. But I suppose it is good for those who run BBSes or leave their systems on 24/7.
