Walmart is selling the APEX AD-1500 DVD player for only $69.88! It plays DVDs, VCDs, SVCDs, CDs, CD-Rs, CD-RWs, and MP3 CDs. It is also hackable to view all region codes. Information on hacking can be found here. Read also what VCDhelp has to say about this.

VCD's

I have read on VCDhelp that later models of the apex-1500 do not play vcd's. Can anyone who has purchased this model in the last week or two verify. Thanks!
 
Some 1200's didn't cause they were too cheap to pay for vcd licensing.

Also, only certain serial numbers of this player can be hacked, those are a-d.

Also, these 1500 players display NO closed captions. I callled them about it once. Sure, that selection is on the menu but they won't show up, yuou can get around it by using english subs if the dvd has them.
 
They don't show close captioning or subtitles? There is a difference.

Also, does anyone know if this player will play writable DVD-R's?
 
It should play dvdrs just, plays my dvdrws.....

no closed captions are sent from this player.
